Kamen Rider Fourze Final Episode Director’s Cut Announced

Posted on November 3, 2012 at 6:21 am by ZeoRangerV under Kamen Rider

Amazon.co.jp have started taking DVD and blu-ray orders for a director’s cut edition of the final two episodes of Kamen Rider Fourze. This is the not only the second time the final two episodes of a Kamen Rider series have been put together into one episode and given the director’s cut treatment (Kamen Rider OOO), but also the second director’s cut DVD/blu-ray released from Fourze as episodes 31 and 32 were also released this way last month.

What differences these versions of the episodes will have is still unknown. The DVD/blu-ray will be released on February 21st, priced at 5040 and 6090 yen respectively.

KITA! Oh yes, this is very epic. Maybe they'll fix it so Libra doesn't die like a wuss this time.

Libra won't be in it, he died in episode 46. This is 47 and 48.

On one hand, this is really cool.

On the other, seriously? Why can't they just make the episodes right in the first place? This is getting to be as bad as DLC for video games.

Because episodes have a run time of 24 minutes? How on earth are they supposed to make it the length of the directors cut releases when that would make it longer than broadcast would allow?

Yeah, those were kind of my thoughts. Wrapping up the story is more important that resolving minor plot holes when it comes to choosing what goes to air and what scenes get cut.

Anyway, I excited. Maybe it'll make Gamou's change of heart less whiplash inducing. Or expand on Kengo some more.
I just desperately hope it's not just adding cut scenes of kid Gen and kid Yuuki...

They had 48 episodes to wrap up the story. Don't get me wrong, I loved the ending to Fourze, I love that they want to add footage, but it is the principle of the matter. Instead of prancing around with filler arcs as they do with every series, they should make sure they have everything all planned out ahead of time. This happens every time with every anime. These studios half ass their endings as if it took them by surprise that the show was going to end at whatever episode number.

They film these episodes only about 3 months in advance. The staff do not know how many episodes the show will be, they can only estimate. Most Kamen Rider shows get 49 episodes meaning they can end with a 3-part episode rather than a 2-part episode. Fourze lost an episode due to very low ratings (the lowest since Decade). By the time the staff was informed of the change, they were probably already producing episodes in the 40's.
