The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Join Fortnite on August 7th 2025

Posted on August 5, 2025 at 11:10 am by Chris under Power Rangers

Ever since the popular battle royale shooting game Fortnite added Snake-Eyes from G.I. Joe a couple of years ago (along with a special edition Snake-Eyes Fortnite figure from Hasbro), insiders and fans have speculated and even predicted that the Power Rangers would one day become part of Fortnite.  And after years of hype and letdowns, the rumors have come true.

The Chapter 6 Season 4 update for Fortnite – coming August 7th 2025 – will feature the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (alongside Halo).  Exact details are still unknown as of the time of this story but verified leakers have stated that the core five Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (Red, Black, Blue, Yellow, and Pink) will be available, with the popular Green Ranger (and White Ranger) coming via the Season Battle Pass.  The Dino Megazord is also suggested to be available in September and will likely play into Fortnite‘s story.

Fortnite is a free-to-play online battle royale shooting game by Epic Games and is arguably one of the most successful and profitable games of all time.  The release coincides with the release of both the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Re-Ignition toy line and 4K remastered show on Netflix.

REPORT – New Power Rangers Live-Action Series Coming to Disney+

Posted on March 19, 2025 at 2:29 pm by Chris under Power Rangers

According to entertainment website TheWrap.com, the Power Rangers franchise may have found it’s new home for entertainment.  TheWrap reporter Umberto Gonzalez reports that Hasbro will produce a brand new Power Rangers live-action series on Disney+ with Jonathan E. Steinberg (Percy Jackson and the Olympians) and Dan Shotz in negotiations to write, show-run, and produce the new series.

The Power Rangers brand has stumbled out of the gate since it’s acquisition by Hasbro in 2018.  Following a dramatic push in the toy aisle with Power Rangers Beast Morphers, the Power Rangers brand limped to it’s 30th anniversary series Power Rangers Cosmic Fury in 2023, with most of the planned toy line being canceled before production could even begin, and Playmates being rewarded the toy license in the aftermath of the end of Power Rangers toys with Hasbro.

The last time Power Rangers saw critical success in both the toy aisle and media was in the early 2010’s up through 2017, when Saban Brands reacquired Power Rangers from Disney and relaunched the brand on Nickelodeon.  The success of Power Rangers in the early 2010’s led way to the rebooted Power Rangers movie of 2017 with Lionsgate. While receiving praise from fans and mild critical acclaim, it limped to a box office finish of $142 million worldwide, causing it to be considered a flop in the eyes of the entertainment industry.

Power Rangers was originally sold to Disney as part of the Fox Kids block of programming in 2002.  Disney produced numerous Power Rangers series from 2003 through 2010, some even reaching fan-favorite status (Power Rangers Dino Thunder, Power Rangers S.P.D., Power Rangers RPM).  Whether or not this new Power Rangers series comes to pass on Disney+ will be answered through a test of time, as Hasbro attempted to reboot the brand as early as 2019 with Jonathan Entwistle, but the project never got off the ground and eventually ceased to exist when Hasbro sold their recently acquired entertainment company eOne to Lionsgate.

Stay tuned for more updates.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Re-Ignition Announced from Playmates

Posted on January 17, 2025 at 10:41 am by Chris under Power Rangers

The official Power Rangers Instagram account today teased the return of Power Rangers collectibles, now from Playmates, with the branding Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Re-Ignition.

Playmates acquired the license to create Power Rangers toys from Hasbro in 2024, with a scheduled launch date of Fall 2025.  Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks had stated in Hasbro earnings calls that Power Rangers as a brand failed to meet their threshold in terms of profitability to continue as is, thus the licensing out of the brand to other companies like Playmates.  The announcement of the licensing deal included specific language that Playmates would be creating a lineup of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers toys.  While rumors have circulated that Playmates would be making both a “kids” toy-line as well as an older collectible toy-line, nothing concrete has surfaced beyond rumors.

No further details were given.  At San Diego Comic Con, a Playmates representative had stated that their lineup of Power Rangers toys would be revealed at Toy Fair 2025, which takes place March 1st through March 4th at the Jacob Javitz Center in New York City.

Stay tuned for more information.

Heritage Auctions of 30 Years of Power Rangers – October 18th

Posted on October 17, 2024 at 9:09 am by Chris under Power Rangers

Have you ever dreamed of owning a piece of screen-used Power Rangers history?  Now is your chance!  A bittersweet auction is happening through Heritage Auctions containing pieces from all 30 years of Power Rangers history.  The skinny is this – Hasbro is cleaning house and cutting costs, so storing 30 years of history of a television series they no longer have any desire to produce is considered an unnecessary expense.  So Hasbro has cleaned out the storage warehouse for Power Rangers and is auctioning off (for profit) all sellable pieces from the history of the show.

In this auction, you will find nearly every single screen-used Power Rangers costume for the heroes, the villains, and more props than replica prop-makers know what to do with.  Everything from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers to Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie, Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie, through Cosmic Fury and the Once And Always special is available for auction.

Search the auction listings by clicking this link.  Proxy bidding begins Friday, October 18th (tomorrow).

NOTE – Heritage Auction charges incredibly high fees and shipping costs, so buyer beware – that $1,000 purchase can quickly become $1,350 before you know it.

Power Rangers Dino Fury Composer Bert Selen Teases Soundtrack Release

Posted on July 2, 2024 at 5:11 pm by Chris under Power Rangers

It’s tough to be a Power Rangers fan lately.  With no new show to watch, no new collectibles to purchase, the reboot show allegedly dropped by Netflix, the long-running comic series from BOOM! Studios ending in a couple of months, and a deafening silence on everything from Hasbro, it really feels like The End of the Power Rangers.

However, one slimmer of light shone through today as Bert Selen, composer for Power Rangers Dino Fury and Power Rangers Cosmic Fury, posted on X (formerly Twitter) a short video with music from the Power Rangers Dino Fury show with the hashtag “#soundtrack”.  The text?  A simple “7-12-24”.

Power Rangers Dino Fury (2021/2022) was the last season of Power Rangers to air on television, with the second half of the second season being exclusive to Netflix.  The follow-up sequel series, Power Rangers Cosmic Fury, streamed exclusively on Netflix.

Netflix Abandons Power Rangers Reboot – Future Uncertain

Posted on June 11, 2024 at 7:01 pm by Chris under Power Rangers

The first news in years for the promised Power Rangers reboot series/movie/special/whatever has dropped and it isn’t good news.  According to TVLine.com, Netflix has decided to move on from the Power Rangers reboot, leaving the in-development project in limbo without a partner.

The Power Rangers brand was purchased by Hasbro back in 2018 for half a billion dollars from Saban Capital Group, but never quite managed to find sure-footing in the entertainment market or the toy aisles.  Hasbro has since licensed out the toy portion of Power Rangers to rival company Playmates, who will offer their first selection of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers toys in 2025.  With Hasbro selling off their entertainment division, eOne, it is very likely that Hasbro will shop off the licensing rights to Power Rangers media as well, using the disappointing development of the Power Rangers reboot series as the catalyst.

While the television and toy news for Power Rangers is disappointing, there is still the BOOM! Studios comics of Power Rangers (which will reportedly undergo a “reboot” themselves this year at the conclusion of the current story-arch) as well as the recently announced Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind retro side-scrolling game.  Those, along with the mobile fighting game Power Rangers Legacy Wars still receiving updates and new characters, the brand is still fighting to find its place.

We’ll keep our eyes and ears out for any news or developments with all things Power Rangers.

Posted on April 22, 2024 at 11:32 am by Chris under Power Rangers

The future for the Power Rangers brand has been revealed today as Hasbro announced that rival toy company Playmates Toys (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Voltron) has acquired the toy license for the brand from Hasbro.

As part of the deal, Playmates Toys acquires the global (excluding Asia) rights to make Power Rangers action figures, vehicles, roleplay toys, and plush items.

Playmates Toys has also revealed that their first offering for Power Rangers toys will be in 2025 with a kids-targeted line of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers toys.

Stay tuned for more details.
