The official Power Rangers Instagram account today teased the return of Power Rangers collectibles, now from Playmates, with the branding Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Re-Ignition.

Playmates acquired the license to create Power Rangers toys from Hasbro in 2024, with a scheduled launch date of Fall 2025.  Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks had stated in Hasbro earnings calls that Power Rangers as a brand failed to meet their threshold in terms of profitability to continue as is, thus the licensing out of the brand to other companies like Playmates.  The announcement of the licensing deal included specific language that Playmates would be creating a lineup of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers toys.  While rumors have circulated that Playmates would be making both a “kids” toy-line as well as an older collectible toy-line, nothing concrete has surfaced beyond rumors.

No further details were given.  At San Diego Comic Con, a Playmates representative had stated that their lineup of Power Rangers toys would be revealed at Toy Fair 2025, which takes place March 1st through March 4th at the Jacob Javitz Center in New York City.

Fans of Super Sentai have been excited to see the return of Super Sentai S.H. Figuarts and even more excited to see older series (ie: Gokaiger, Kyoryuger) see the Shinkocchou Seihou treatment.  That trend continues as at the Tamashii Nations 2024 Event we have the official reveal of S.H. Figuarts Shinkocchou Seihou Go-On Red!

Though listed as “Display Only”, this figure is featured on the @Instamashii Instagram account, making its release feel a little more guaranteed.  If it should release, expect it to be a hot pre-order – both fans of Go-Onger as well as Power Rangers R.P.M. will want to add this figure to their collection.

While there hasn’t been too much for Power Rangers to get excited about over the last year, the biggest surprise was an upcoming retro-style arcade game mash-em-up from Digital Eclipse featuring the iconic Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.

Digital Eclipse has announced via a new trailer that Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Rita’s Rewind will be releasing on December 10th, 2024.  The game will be available on PS4, PS5, X-Box, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.  Check out the trailer below.

The legends from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers continue to be made available in statue and bust form from Diamond Select Toys!  This White Ranger resin bust stands approximately 10 inches tall in 1/2 scale and based upon his appearance from the iconic Mighty Morphin Power Rangers!  The base is a white flame with an insert Power Coin.

This is a limited piece (1000 units) designed by Joe Allard.  Packaged in a full-color window box and includes a numbered certificate of authenticity.  Approximately $200 MSRP and will release in May/June 2025.

This year’s Power Morphicon is in full-swing and while the show may no longer be recognized as an official Power Rangers convention by the powers that be, that doesn’t stop companies that have licenses for Power Rangers from showing up and sharing their product.  Enter ThreeZero and their FigZero line of 1/6 scale figures.  So far, they’ve released all seven of the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, a Lord Drakkon figure, and their highly anticipated Zeo Ranger V Red 1/6 figure is due for release this month.

At San Diego Comic Con, we had the reveal of the Red Turbo Ranger.  Thanks to Twitter/X user @datila_, we have our first look at the remaining members of the Power Rangers Turbo team!

Fans of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comic series from BOOM! Studios recently saw their beloved comic book universe come to a close in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Darkest Hour.  At that time, the future of Power Rangers comics seemed murky, but BOOM! Studios has now removed those fears with the announcement of their new on-going Power Rangers comic series titled “Power Rangers Prime“.

Similar in concept to the idea of the Ultimates universe in Marvel Comics, Power Rangers Prime features the Power Rangers but in a brand new universe untied to any previous continuity.  The main character to start this series is none other than the Power Rangers Samurai Red Ranger Lauren Shiba, who is on the run from the Eltarian Police for being a Power Ranger, and finds her way to Angel Grove where she will meet friends and foes, and not necessarily who you expect.  Another star in the series will be a Power Rangers Megaforce character, and potentially a member from Power Rangers Jungle Fury.  The new comic has no rules in what it can do and who it can focus on with no ties to previous continuity.

The new comic is written by Melissa Flores and will be illustrated by Michael Yg.  Character design and covers are handled by veteran Power Rangers artist Dan Mora.  Power Rangers Prime #1 releases on November 13th 2024.

This year’s SDCC 2024 has come and gone, but before our coverage team left they did manage to snap a few more images of arguably the only Power Rangers items of note this year – the new ThreeZero 1:6 scale figures of the Power Rangers Turbo Red Ranger and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers BOOM! Studios Matt Cook version Green Ranger.
