S.H.Figuarts Gavan Type G In Hand Photo Gallery

Posted on June 7, 2013 at 6:07 pm by Kiryu under Metal Heroes

JOUCHAKU!

Both Gavans are here together at last! And thanks to Shishioh, we now have photos of the Tamashi Web exclusive S.H.Figuarts Gavan Type G figure which was just recently released.

Gavan Type G includes a swap on head mimicing his light up eyes, the signature Laser Blade in both a finishing slashing motion and a regular version, and swappable hands.

Cool. I never knew they had differently colored eyes.

It looks good, but don't let the looks deceive you. The Gavan mold is massively underwhelming in hand I vastly prefer the old Action Works Gavan that Megahouse put out. I think I'm actually gonna trade back up to it.

What's wrong with the Gavan mold?

It looks fine to me. It's as posable as it should be, comes with what he needs...Don't see the problem.

Mainly because the Action Works figure (which is nearly 6 years older than the SHF) comes with more hands, 4 different versions of the laser blade, has it's own custom display base and is just as posable as the SHF. The SHF just feels like a less complete release. I did a gallery of Action Works Gavan last year and it stacks right up to current SHF's.

I think at this point the best Gavan figure on the market is the Metal Finish reissue of Action Works Gavan that came out earlier this year. As for Type G there's only one option, I've already paid for mine so I'll take it. But I have to say that for me it really is underwhelming after handling an older figure that was superior.

More accessories =/= better. If I collected Figuarts more than I do, I would want the Figuarts Gavan, because the Action Works wouldn't look quite right compared to other Figuarts.

For me, the only bummer about the Figuats Gavan is that his Laser Blade attack only has the slashing motion. How is the chrome holding up on Gavan?

I find myself annoyed because paying exclusive prices should mean you get more but they always skimp on the accessory count. To you it may not equal better but from a design stand point they have pretty similar articulation, the only thing it comes down to then is the accessory count. Which again, a nearly 6 year old figure is winning when it shouldn't.

Also a bummer. The Action Works had 2 different types of the blade in normal mode, and 2 charged up attack modes. The chrome is holding up fine too, no problems that I've run into. Though I have heard of people flaking there's a bit. Maybe from being too rough?
