As our faithful Power Rangers fans know by now – one of the features that come with the Power Rangers Super Megaforce Ranger Keys is a symbol to scan with your Key Scanner App, which then allows you to morph in to that Power Ranger as well as unlock an image or sound through the app. An update went out to the app (available on both Android and iPhones) on Christmas day and our very own raz checked out the installation file … and discovered the entire list of Ranger Keys currently installed on the app.
Rather than post every single Ranger Key that is included in the app, it’ll be easier to list the ones that do NOT have any type of listing in this file. That does NOT mean they aren’t getting a key … it just means the information isn’t in the file. But I will admit it doesn’t look promising … because just about every other Power Ranger is listed. So the following characters ARE NOT LISTED IN THE APPLICATION. This would lean one to assume that they are NOT receiving the Ranger Key treatment. But we cannot confirm that 100% at this time.

However, if you recall, our friend Fury Diamond ripped the entire art assets out of this application when it first released. If you browse through those images, you’ll see that both Blue Senturion as well as Magna Defender have art assets, but no artwork for an actual key asset. What does that mean? Hard to say. But it would appear that we are getting closer to saying that at least a solid majority of the names we listed above are NOT getting keys (Blue Senturion and Magna Defender looking to still be possible). On the plus side … Titanium Ranger looks to be getting a key!

So, I've been spending this afternoon wracking my brain over this app...

The iOS version is available to download on iTunes. I also wasn't about to upload a 300MB file somewhere.
Fury has been spending the last few weeks generating bar codes to try to get more of the keys scanned. He's gotten ~25 key barcodes figured out. However, this isn't like a normal QR code. There are 36 bits around the entire square, each being a possible black or white, a 0 or 1, like any binary sequence. There are 4 sets of 9 bits.
Doing the math, that is 68,719,476,736 possible combinations.

It looks like the top left most bit is always white, but we could be wrong.
I am wondering if the binary string around the whole box corresponds to a series of characters, like numbers, like the Gosei Morpher used the binary strings on the bar codes on the cards to act as numbers.
I have went through a decompiled the APK completely. This left me with the decompiled java that I could sift through again like I did with the card scanner app, which led me to the URL to the list of private clip URL's on Bandai's server. However, I couldn't find that same file again and there was nothing referencing the codeList/rangerkey_info.tsv list I posted earlier today.
One thing that was interesting is that the individual ranger key/ranger images are very easily accessible on the iOS version, but incredibly hidden on the Android version. I still couldn't find them anywhere. There's also a clean Megaforce theme MP3 in the package as well as sound clips of the team saying "It's Morphin Time!"
There are numbers for each ranger in the list, 301 through 424, which also correspond to the individual ranger images in the package. However, if you think about it, we had ~200 promo cards, and then this starts at 301. Curious if they're linked.
There is also a Payload\BACR\PowerRangers.app\_CodeSignature\CodeSignature file n the iOS version that has a list of images assigned to data strings, including all of the ranger key images.
I found out a lot about how the app works, but there have to be some mechanics to this that we're missing, either barcodes being read or patterns in the bit markings.
I went ahead and scanned them and they really do work.
Just because it'll exist I'm tempted to find a Titanium Ranger key somehow.
But the lack of a Magna Defender, Blue Senturian, and Sentinel Knight is really odd to me (especially the Defender) given they were used in Gokaiger...
Outside of Magna Defender and Blue Centurion it looks like it's mostly the Bangai Heros that are getting the shaft. The only reason those are not left ot is because Turbo and Lost Galaxy used their respective sentai's Bangai Heros to fill in the 6th Ranger slot.
Kinda bummed about the Spirit Rangers but yay! Titanium Ranger Key! We get something Japan didn't!
Wait a minute, yall remember that "Power Morphicon" Sound we found out about? What if... Titanium is the PM key and thats the sound itll make.
