Kamen Rider Drive Secondary Writer Announced, Single Episode Stories Confirmed

Posted on August 29, 2014 at 3:49 pm by Paladin under Kamen Rider

The good people at The Tokusatsu Network have uncovered some new details about the production of Kamen Rider Drive! Tokusatsu script veteran Keiichi Hasegawa will be serving as secondary writer for this new series.

While primarily an Ultraman writer (Hasegawa has worked on virtually every Ultra series since 1996’s Tiga), Keiichi previously worked with main Drive writer Riku Sanjo on Kamen Rider W! Seems the hard-boiled crew is back together for another season.

In addition, TV Asahi producers have described Kamen Rider Drive’s crime-solving adventures are intended as single-episode stories. Will this storytelling format match up well with Sanjo & Hasegawa’s writings? Only time will tell!

Kamen Rider Drive premieres October 5th! Stay tuned to TokuNation for further details.

Written by Riku Sanjo, produced by Takahito Ōmori (both of Kyoryuger) and directed by Ryuta Tasaki (Gaim's director)!

    Good names all around.

I had a feeling Riku Sanjou was going to be writing this. I am glad part of the Kyoryuger staff is doing this, it makes me more excited for Drive. This is looking really solid.

Rather than having a 2 episodes story Drive has a 3 episodes story format.
1st week is the incident episode
2nd week will be the reasoning episode
3rd week will be the settlement episode

A total number of 108 kaijin will be introduce in the story.

108? That is a lot for a 50 episode series.

Not sure I'm feeling the buzz from the Kyoryuger cast. Hopefully Drive isn't Mr Perfect and the villains actually do stuff.

This guy did W and Fourze though, right? That means we might see Foundation X again.

I hope not, I'm so used to Gaim that this format will be weird.

Any reason why all the front page posts keep saying 15th Hesei rider? If my memory serves me correctly, Drive is #16. Hence the whole showa vs hesei Gaim movie and KR fifteen and whatnot lol.

Riku Sanjo again? Okay, I can work with that. I loved W and he co-wrote Fourze which was a lot of fun, pacing issues aside. Not familiar with the producer, but the director did an okay, if not revolutionary, job with Gaim.

I hope that's not true. I'd like to see the show stay serialized and not backslide into multiple small arcs, even if they are longer.

I didn't like Kyoryuger, but I think the biggest problem it had - the godmode Red and useless other guys - shouldn't be an issue when the show isn't trying to be a team effort. I doubt we'll see Foundation X, though - that was more of the producer's thing, not Sanjo's, and it wasn't this producer.

Alright! Kamen Rider Kyoryuger! My body is ready! I am also prepared for countless twirling shots have young women in mini-skirts as harps play in the backround.

But what I'm really ready for is the same awesome writing and direction I fell in love with in Kyoryuger. This has finally made me excited for Drive.

This could work. Like a Police Drama type thing. It'll be weird after Gaim, but meh, this isn't Gaim.

It's just the writer and producer; Koichi Sakamoto isn't involved. Don't expect skirt twirls.
