With Toy Fair New York 2018 winding to a close, Fortune.com sat down with Brian Goldner, the CEO of Hasbro Inc., and spoke regarding the acquisition of the master toy license of the Power Rangers brand. Speaking with Susie Gharib of Fortune.com, Brian Goldner had this to say about the Power Rangers brand:
“It’s a very young-skewing brand so that the youngest consumer really loves that story, that fun kitsch humor that comes along with that action and adventure of Power Rangers. And then today there’s all these kids who are now adults, are fans of the brand and we think there’s a great opportunity in that fan economy to talk to the Power Ranger fan and give them the products they’re looking for.”
Saban Brands, the parent company of Power Rangers, recently announced both their separation from Bandai America, the toy company that has produced Power Rangers toys for the last 25 years, and subsequently announced their new partnership with Hasbro.
Brian Goldner finishes by saying “We think this brand can be far bigger in our hands over time than it has been in the past.” Join in your thoughts and expectations in our on-going discussion regarding the acquisition of the Power Rangers toy line by Hasbro.

I trust them.
We'll see, but I'm remaining optimistic.
GoseiWonder says
Cool, does this mean “upscale the Minipla and call it Deluxe?”
Bionichute says
I wouldn't be surprised if one of the reasons they picked Go-Busters is because it'll help show how they're managing the show and such.
Like, I think it's impossible to make Go-Busters into something like Dino Charge, or even Samurai. It's going to be very different.

I have a question about this. How does Bandai of Japan feel about Saban leaving Bandai of America?
Talisman says
I imagine they considered PR remaining with their American division to be far too much of a liability at this point.
Bionichute says
Yeah, Saban didn't just move away, this was probably in the works for quite a while. Business stuff isn't as simple as it looks on the surface.
Darth Gonzo says
I wonder if he means more then just toy wise? Does he think Power Rangers can be bigger if Hasbro owns it all?
Neoblackdragon says
I really wonder if BOJ really cares. BOA and PR may have been a bit of dead weight. Honestly if BOJ cared they really could have just taken over duties.
Still it's going to be interesting. The Dragon Dagger for instance. The legacy version was used in the US and in Japan. I can see BOA and BOJ sharing molds.
Hasbro would make their own stuff. I have no idea if they'd actually deal with BOJ for anything.
But words are just that. BOA told us a bunch of sweet nothings as well.
Of course Hasbro's products have honestly defined by childhood and played a big role in the current generation. Also like we may be picking up on. Hasbro might want to be more invested in Power Rangers then Bandai.
