Ultraman Trigger: New Generation Tiga Revealed

Tsuburaya Productions has officially announced the 25th Ultra television series, titled Ultraman Trigger: New Generation Tiga!

2021 marks 25 years since the airing of Ultraman Tiga so Ultraman Trigger will serve as an homage to this legendary series.

Trigger stars a young man named Kengo Manaka, a botanist living on a now-colonized planet Mars. A chance encounter with the Giant of Light grants Kengo access to the GUTS Sparklence and the power to transform into Ultraman Trigger!

Ultraman Trigger will officially premiere on Ultraman Day– July 10 2021!

    So, he's just Tiga but new? The plot seems to be pretty much Tiga's and the villains are also similar to Tiga. So, it kinda seems like a remake/reboot than it is a sequel or an entirely new Ultra.

    Still, he looks nice. Like Tiga but it's as if some other artist drew him and made his own adjustments. His weapon looks goofy in the scissor mode, but looks fine as a sword and bow. Haven't see an Ultra use a bow. Pretty weird the only thing 'Trigger' about him is the transformation device.

    This may be a dumb comparison, but I'm reminded of the time Super Megaforce introduced Dairanger as "New Powers" and some were mocking that descriptor, including one YT Video which used the tagline "Power Rangers New Powers: They Have Powers That Are New"!

    Will "New Generation Tiga" suffer the same fate: "New Generation Has A New Tiga That Is New"!?

    Description ribbing aside, I'm intrigued nonetheless!

    The slogan on the right side of the poster does say, "The giant legend for a new generation that links the super-ancient light". By this I think it is best to say he is his own thing but enherits the essence of Tiga, down to the form changes. It would be like how the Zenkaigers inherit the powers of their respective motif sentai. That said, I am loving this. Love how Trigger changes more than just color schemes. Also, notice how his power type and sky type are similar to the two companions of Tiga.

    So with what I'm getting from this it's probably going to feel more like a reboot or reimagining of the original Tiga with more integration of roleplay toys like we've been seeing since Ginga. Also, there will be a girl in shorts doing kicks.
