Some time ago a new animated Ultraman project was announced to be in the works at Netflix.
Today, we have the first official images of this new Ultra series- titled Ultraman Rising!
These images were released as part of a preview for Netflix’ Geeked Weekp event, currently scheduled for November 6-12 2023. Additional information about the Ultraman Rising project should be released during this event- so stay tuned to TokuNation for further details!

Style and aesthetic feels modern retro.

I wasn't expecting an Ultraman Powered Reboot.
Sorry, the blue eyes got to me. Anyway, I love the slim body making him look more alien and stylized for animation, and the fact that this is being worked on by some of the people involved with Kubo and the Two Strings, makes me excited since that was a good movie.

Love the look of it, though am iffy on the Ken's personality bleeding wholesale through Ultraman himself. Makes him feel a bit too MCU-y from what we've seen so far...

That said, I do really love how aesthetically accurate the Kaiju is to Tsuburaya's creature gallery. Really shows how much they want to make it look like Ultraman.

The animation looks fantastic. The sound effects are on-point.
All the same it's just weird how...talky the Ultraman is. Like I'm not sure if they're going to get into the nitty gritty of it, but like is it 100% the host in charge? Who even is the Ultra?
Also that Color Timer was FAST.
The AI Robot reminded me of REM from Geed.
It also doesn't look like there's a Rise Sequence since the transformation is instantaneous.
Kiwami says
Ultraman being talkative isn't bothering me, the fact that people seemingly understand him is. That's as far as I know, entirely new, and makes his banter a bit weird. Like he has to actually watch what he's saying. Not a fan of the "pupils" in the eyes either, I could do without them.
Aside from that though this is interesting. The animation is really, really good. And that's very refreshing after the previous Netflix Tokusatsu anime endeavors that, well, looked pretty terrible in motion.
I'm interested, this is something different, and the baby monster storyline has me hooked, that could be cool.

It looks fucking phenomenal, goddamn. Only gripe is the uh. Americanization, for lack of a better word with the talking like everyone else points out. I handled CastleVania Nocturne pretty well despite it absolutely killing it's best scene so this is still a day 1 watch
