I could almost swear that DekaRed's new form is, at the very least, inspired by the S.P.D. Battlizer cause it's too similar to the armored intermediary form before donning RIC/Murphy as armor.
This would be somewhat appropriate since Magiranger VS. Dekaranger was the first and only time that a Power Rangers Battlizer was ported over to Sentai. Since older team-up movies tend to be a micro-continuity unto themselves, the Battlizer upgrade was ignored in favor of the Fire Squad Vest (itself a redeco of the SWAT Vest) for 10 Years After and all subsequent Dekaranger additions.
This would also be a tad funny cause that intermediate form was criticized back in the day. "Cyber Diaper" was a memorable derision. They're definitely not the same, and this new form definitely looks better.

Always down for more Dekaranger, but give the rest of the team some power ups already. At least spread them around a bit. Twenty years on and the team’s leader is still stuck with basic and SWAT modes, ffs.

That's a badass upgrade and does look like it took inspiration from the SPD battlizer but simplified and almost get a Robocop vibe from the design as well.
Yeah I agree as well it sucks to see only the Red ranger get constant upgrades and felt they could had repainted the other SWAT armor for remaining members and also give Deka Break one too

I hope this continues the Space Squad series.

Huh, did not expect this. It's interesting how this special is partially meant as an initiative to boost tourism for Kochi according to the Crunchyroll article. The place seems like a rural place with farming and fishing being the main industry according to what I searched and seems to be famous for cultural landmarks and Ryoma Sakamoto. Side note, Deka Red suit looks cool.

Considering how popular Dekaranger is, this doesn't surprise me.
