A press release confirms that the first volume will come out January 14th, 2014 and include a round-table retrospective with the cast members!

When I first saw this, I interpreted it as some sorta reunion special, like the Hurricaneger thingy.

Was it really shot in HD or film? Or is it just an upscale to Blu?

Probably a remasterd upscale. However, remember, BDs have the same region code as the US, so there is no longer a need for a separate player (which is the main reason why I wouldn't mine buying Blade, Ryuki, Black, and all of the Sentai series I own over again.
