Let’s Watch Wednesdays – DaiRanger, Kamen Rider Ryuki, Lightspeed Rescue!

Hey Tokusatsu fans! Are you enjoying our weekly feature of "Let's Watch Wednesdays"? We want to watch the next 5 episodes of each series. What's in store for the Dairangers? How in the world can Ryuki ever hope to handle anyone as strong as Zolda? And who is the Titanium Ranger?

They've played the whole "Who is that mysterious ranger?!" card to often.

Eh, yes and no. Titanium Ranger was a little different because he was straight up evil when he debuted, not under a spell like Tommy nor an ally like Gold Ranger or Phantom Ranger. Plus we find out his identity at the end of the same episode he debuts in.

Rushed to catch up with Ryuki last night, with episodes 8-10. :P

Watched 11 this morning.

As I had hoped, having a large number of riders is mostly makingn up for Shinji being a pretty weak character IMO.

Just watched episode 12 of Ryuki. VERY interesting episode since it dealt with Kanzaki's experiment and especially since it gave us a glimpse into Ren's past. It was funny to see the random dudes who wanted to kick his ass and turned up at just about every corner. Seems like he kicked their asses in his past or something.

I'm left wondering, if Eri wakes from her coma, will Ren stick with Yui or go for Eri? I can see it going either way but I can't wait until I get to the episode where that situation is resolved. At some point I thought the purple Mirror World monster was her(maybe it is?).

I think Shinji was intentionally left open with focus on other characters so that he could be a parallel to a new viewer. In the series he is new to the Rider World and War as would be a new viewer. In that respect I think it does work but I can see where you are coming from.

Do I think he's weak? At this point no, I think(and hope), his growth as a character is a gradual build up over the course the series. At this point he is an inept reporter who is clumsy and innocent and only fights to defend. Reasonable enough but a protagonist like that usually turns up bad ass in the end. His fighting skills have improved, he used the strike vent to distract the mirror world monster's attack in episode 11.

For me this series started to take a way better turn story-wise by episode 10 or so.

Just finished episode 46 of Ryuki. What have you people done to me? I can't even wait a week at a time to watch 5 more episodes. The story is just too good to wait a week in between. And Shinji improves quite, thankfully so does Ren.

Ryuki is cool man, the question is, what has it done to you?

Glad to hear that both Shinji and Ren improve as characters, Shinji needs it more than Ren, Ren was intriguing to begin with imo.
