Walter E Jones Talks Mighty Morphin Power Rangers

Posted on September 13, 2012 at 2:53 am by Shin Densetsu under Power Rangers

El Paso Inc. has posted a brief interview with Walter E. Jones, who played Zack Taylor on Mighty Morphin Power Rangers! After Power Rangers, Jones went onto to star in a space-faring Nickelodeon show, and has continued to act ever since. In the interview, Jones talks of grown men who trip out upon meeting him:

…there are lots of grown men I’ve met that when they meet me, they trip out. I don’t know, it depends on what Power Rangers meant to you when you were a child. For some people, it’s like, “I rushed home every day from school to see your show.” For other people, it’s like, “I built a circle of friends because we all worked as team to be Power Rangers, and that took me out of being shy.” For some people it’s “you were an inspiration to me because I didn’t have confidence in myself, and when I started playing and doing karate and gymnastic, it changed my whole life.”

El Paso Inc. asked what Jones missed most about MMPR, and he replied:

A regular check (laughs). I think it’s probably just the camaraderie of my cast and the feeling of being part of something that was so big and that was growing so fast. It was a phenomenon – I’m still part of it, I’m part of the original cast, I’m part of the originators of it coming to America. But that moment of understanding that it was going to be something that was taking over, and the surprise of it all was an amazing time.

At this point in time it has been 20 years since Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers started taking over, and the Power Rangers brand hasn’t stopped since.
