The first week of filming for Power Rangers Megaforce has just finished and Samuraicast have kindly collated all the news that has come from it. As well as cast images, it includes some info about what we can possibly expect from the latest Power Rangers series!
First up comes the news of a high-school setting being the primary location for Megaforce. Mr Yellow of RangerCrew tweeted an image of the school set to be used, which is Mount Albert Grammar School in New Zealand.
Secondly, Ciara Hanna (Yellow Megaforce ranger) tweeted that she met a special guest on set. Could veteran rangers be appearing early in the series before the switch to Super Megaforce?
Finally, Namihei Koshige, a veteran Power Rangers stunt actor, had this to say about one of the scripts for Megaforce:
In the previous season, “Samurai”, the story was pretty much the same as it was in the Japanese version, so they used a lot of places that looked like Japan. Even a few of the action scenes were taken from them. Regardless though, I went to First Unit today. Went to the Kanji consultant and the action director to go over what we had to do. I didn’t really get a chance to perform at all. “I wonder if today’ll be more of the same”… is what I thought. But then I peeked at the script. Although it had a picture of “Goseiger”, it was mostly a fairly original story with lots to do!! So it’s been non-stop action everyday…
What else will Power Rangers Megaforce have in store? Stay tuned to Tokunation.com to find out!

How exciting! The best news is from Namihei Koshige's blogpost, which gives me hope that they're trying harder for Megaforce. My anticipation for this season grows with each reveal.

Dude, this isn't going to be Goseiger. It's Power Rangers Megaforce. You really need to get used to that fact.

While I'm glad they're going the original story route again instead of trying to (poorly) adapt the original storylines...Megaforce and Super Megaforce are still terrible names.
That being said, can't say anything about the quality of the show until it actually airs. All I ask is that it's better than Samurai.

I'm disappointed that they're going to use the same cast between this and the Gokaiger adaptation, I think it would have been better to have these guys first and then at the end of the series culminate in the legend war with the Zangyak and them all losing their powers, then space pirates are a new and different crew from across the universe. That way they could have also adapted the Goseiger Gokaiger movie.
So long as the cast aren't terrible and can actually act and weren't hired for their looks (like samurai) it should be ok. If they have it that Tommy Oliver is one of the teachers, I'd be down with that.

If you keep up with JDF on Facebook, he has a few conventions coming up that he's attending, and also has been doing a lot lately. He posts pretty much every day. Now I'm not saying they couldn't be hiding that he's out in Australia filming, but it doesn't seem like it from here...
