Boom! Studios has revealed a new mini-series for their Power Rangers comic book universe!
Titled Drakkon New Dawn the title will be a three-issue adventure written by Anthony Burch with artwork by Simone Ragazzoni.
A brief plot synopsis has been released for the series-
After the shocking events of Power Rangers: Ranger Slayer #1, Kimberly is determined to purge the terrifying hold that Drakkon has had over her world, starting with Deadlock; the prison tower where Drakkon held all those who opposed him. But even the Ranger Slayer has no clue of the true power kept in Deadlock—and what unlocking the doors will set into motion. As Kimberly investigates the worst of Drakkon’s secrets, she sets in
motion Drakkon’s final plan—one that will pit her against a fan-favorite Power Rangers villain like you’ve never seen them before.
Drakkon New Dawn is tentatively scheduled for release in August 2020!

This will expand upon Drakkon's World, follow the Ranger Slayer One-Shot, and feature "a fan-favorite Power Rangers villain like you’ve never seen them before"!
That last part is decidedly curious.

Ehhh... so I gotta be honest, I'm up for anything especially as Boom constantly puts out quality stuff; but I am a little tired of Drakkon. He worked best as a foil for Tommy, something for him to overcome; and making him into some big universal villain just didn't work for me. So doing even more stuff with him already makes me a bit fati--
THERE WAS A RANGER SLAYER SPIN-OFF?!

Neat. By fan favorite villain, I assume it'd be one from MMPR so... one of the favorite Monsters of the Week? They already covered the major villains in alot of ways.

Apparently there will be...in June! The timing ties well with Drakkon's new series in August.

I get Tommy is like, the go to Power Ranger but, jeez man give it a rest.
Like the base comic started with a focus on Tommy, since then we've had him be the big bad for an arc, had an entire graphic novel about him, and more focus on him as the White Ranger. Outside of the comics he was also practically the main focus of an anniversary episode (again). So a spin-off series focusing on ANOTHER Tommy is just like, we get it man.
I dunno I'm just feeling fatigue from the guy

Sometimes I wonder if Saban demanded them to focus on Tommy back when they were in charge.
Also I haven't read the latest issues since I prefer to binge-read, but from what I gather, didn't Necessary Evil not focus on Tommy that much and instead makes it feel like an ensemble, unlike the first few arcs where it's just Tommy Oliver feat. Power Rangers series. I guess that is why I tend to like Ryan Parrot as a writer more than Kyle Higgins, and prefer Go Go than main comic because in Go Go, Parrot would write the Rangers as a group, whereas the main comic clearly has Tommy as the main protagonist.
Even though I am still not watching Beast Morphers, at least it's a good thing that they are trying to stay away from the Tommy worship and focus on other Legendary Ranger instead. Ehh who knows maybe we'll get that King Tyranno Ranger and he'll be milked.

Necessary Evil gives a fair amount of focus towards everyone, which is kinda needed given it brings Aisha, Rocky, and Adam into the group.
I also disagree about the entire comic being mainly Tommy-focused. He really doesn't get the major spotlight until Drakkon shows up. Before then I felt everyone got atleast something. Like Billy's' arc of wanting to be a "real hero" and Zack's' interactions with Rita, for example.
But yes, if we are talking about who gets the most focus as a whole, then currently Tommy and Kim get the most focus(Kim arguably moreso since she even got her own mini-series of comics before the Drakkon stuff started going on).

Also at least Shattered Grid removed Tommy from the main story which is pretty ballsy move. And Battle of the Grid had to ruin it just so they can have Tommy vs Tommy.

If you go around gatekeeping, you shouldn't call yourself a Power Rangers fan, it's embarassing.
