New Interview With Kamen Rider Gaim Head Writer, Gen Urobuchi!

Posted on October 17, 2013 at 7:57 pm by Paladin under Kamen Rider

Quarterly magazine “The Kamen Rider” has interviewed the head writer of our newest tokusatsu craze. Gen Urobuchi had quite a few tidbits to offer about the production of the show and the direction this series will be taking!

Highlights from the interview include:

*Gaim will be an overall fast-paced series to sell toys and to make sure the younger audience is not bored by Rider antics.

*Urobuchi’s favorite character to date is the (as yet unrevealed) Kamen Rider Griton, referred to as “lovely.”

*Gaim’s first episodes are very light in comparison to the heavy stuff intended for the future.

Everybody in the production team seems to be in love with Griton, hope it lives up to the hype.

It's great to see that he's going for a fast-paced show, and learning that the Rider War may happen in the second half is very exciting.

I loved his last answer “What would that hero do?“, in the end, he's not only aiming to make a great show, but to make a great show that defines kid's childhoods.
    And that's admirable.

I think most of us saw this coming when Urobuchi was revealed as the writer.

I'm guessing he means no drawn out plots revolving round "of the week" stories instead of ongoing charatcer plots and the main story. And I see what he means about selling toys quick. Pine Arms was introduced in only the second episode, and Baron is next week. They didn't even allow time for Orange Arms to have another win before switching to a new armour. (Though since it's obviously his base form, I can see it returning during more dramatic fights)

This also explains the dizzying amount of riders. I just hope this show doesn't fly too close to the sun and slows enough to let us get aquainted to each rider and power before another is shoved in. Seeing Kota use Orange Arms for daily life was great, and I hope that kind of humour isn't ditched for introduction after introduction.

Long as he keeps his promise to do away with two-week story arcs, I'm good.

    Ye.

Basically if it stays as good as it is now, I know I'll be a-okay. Just don't go to fast there, Uro...

    Uro...

Dammit, there's no nickname for Urobuchi that doesn't sound naughty.

If you notice in the interview he also states that the opening scene of the first episode is actually a glimpse of the future, and not the past as original speculated.

Long as he follows through with it and doesn't pull an opening scene in Decade. Promsing awesome and giving us confusion.

I figured, because Baron was on a bike. But couldn't be sure. The intro credits also show that girly-looking guy from team Gaim as Ryugen, bumming around Zangetsu like in the opening scene.

I hope Gaim rides a horse more in the future. Horses are awesome.
