Some new images from NECA’s next “Pacific Rim” release have come online!
This is the Category III Kaiju codenamed “Knifehead” updated in a larger scale and with new battle damage detail. The upsizing brings Knifehead much closer in size to the already-released Jaeger figures.
Knifehead Version 2 has an expected release window of first-quarter 2014 and these in-package pictures suggest that retailers will have this wave in stock very soon.

New images from ToyArk. Hopefully he'll be emerging from the Retail Breach soon.

Axehead, too.
They look good. LOOK good...

So they are redoing the line or something? I haven't really followed the line since EVERYONE said how bad it is, but if they're redoing it all from the ground up I may look back into it.

Though honestly, unless you have a lot of love for the movie or collect MIB, there's no real reason to get this line. The figures are just poor.
However, this wave of Kaiju and the two newest Jaegers, Cherno Alpha and Coyote Tango, are supposed to be much better and made to typical NECA standards. I least I freaking hope so. I still have a massive scar on my finger from when I tried to shave plastic off of Striker Eureka's hips so it could move them at all forward.

I did find the movie a lot of fun, but as I watched more and more movies from the year, I did find it falling further and further down my 'best of the year' list. I guess I'll maybe skip the renewal of the line as well.

Or at least wait until in-hand samples arrive to reviewers. Who knows, maybe they'll be awesome. But that's cold comfort to Gipsy, Striker, and Leatherback. Who all just happen to be my favourite designs. >_<
Luckily 18 inch Gipsy just rocks despite being a bit limited posability-wise, or else I'd consider this line a total write-off.
Locke says
Wasn't the 18 inch one, the one we looked at, which had some ridiculous scalped price tag?
SPLIT LIP says
I managed to grab one off of TRU.com for $100, but NECA was scalping it on their own ebay and Amazon stores for $120. It was ridiculous. This especially hurt for outside USA buyers, as import charges were another $30, THEN shipping. Even buyers within US had the reminder of BBTS's $90 price tag, which of course sold out ages ago.
Luckily the 18 inch (really 24 inches tall, but in the 18 inch "scale) Knifehead not only looks to be a better figure, but produced in greater quantities.
This line, overall, has been a headache. But with any luck, that ends with these new series three figures.
Locke says
Plus, considering how all these things go, I'd probably be slammed with customs charges as well. I think I predicted, using conversion rates and using figures I've had for similar things in the past, I'd be looking at closer to one hundred and fifty pounds, than a hundred, FOR A TOY.
