The wave 4 assortment of the Power Rangers Super Megaforce 5 inch action figures has been released (online at least) and it’s one of our first chances to pick up some of the Legendary Red Rangers from past seasons. With special thanks to our friend Fury Diamond of RangerCrew.com we are able to bring you some great galleries of all the figures in this case assortment. First up? The Red Ranger from the fan-favorite series Power Rangers RPM!
For someone who is personally a huge fan of the S.H. Figuarts line of figures (if you don’t know what those are, check out our galleries section and browse through numerous entries) I can say I was pleasantly surprised at how simple, yet fun and detailed, this figure actually is. While there’s some minor issues that will always bug me (the way the figure is molded where the back is curved while standing straight up causing posing issues), I actually cannot recommend this figure enough. While the weapons aren’t necessarily painted (the Street Saber has a silver painted blade, but the Nitro Blaster is simply red plastic) the detail in them is pretty slick for a 5 inch action figure.
The Legendary RPM Red Ranger comes with his Nitro Blaster and his Street Saber accessories, features a decent amount of posability and articulation, and isn’t going to cost you upwards of $40 like S.H. Figuarts do. If you’re a fan of either Power Rangers RPM or the Super Sentai version Go-Onger, this figure is, in my honest opinion, a must purchase (until a higher grade collectible figure is released which there are no plans for right now).

"RPM! GET IN GEAR!"
Humanity is on the brink of destruction. An evil computer virus known as Venjix has taken over most of the world, and the survivors of the human race have banded together in the domed city of Corinth. Thanks to technology developed by Dr. K and the defunct Alphabet Soup facility, Scott Truman becomes Operator Series Red, or as we know him, the RPM Red Ranger!
Part of the Power Rangers Super Megaforce 5" Action Figure line, the RPM Red Ranger comes with his Street Saber as well as his Nitro Blaster (shown in pictures). The Street Saber is molded in red plastic but the blade of the sword is painted silver. The Nitro Saber is simply in red plastic.
The figure itself features roughly 15 points of articulation (head, both shoulders with up/down movement and side movement, both forearms, both wrists, both legs, both lower legs). The figure I received was a little loose right out of the package, meaning it won't take long (from either displaying or playing) for the figure to lose the ability to make poses.
The paint and detailing on the figure is actually very incredible - the RPM logo is molded on the belt as well as the helmet in silver, and the helmet features nearly a full paint job. Even the vents and the lights in the eyes on the helmet have molded plastic in them. The silver "belt" that goes across his chest is not molded, merely painted, and he also features the white lines on his arms. The last bit of detail is in the cuffs of his gloves and boots, which are molded as tire treads. The belt also features a decent amount of molding.
The one downside these 5" figures have - the way they're molded where, if they are standing up right, their back is curved. It causes you to either to bend the knees to get the figure to stand without falling for a pose, or be skilled in photography to work around that obstacle. Unlike the Super Megaforce Rangers, there is no plastic molding to hold this figure's movement back (the Super Megaforce Rangers had the collar and the part of their suit hanging down which limited movement).
All in all - this isn't a S.H. Figuart as many of us have grown accustomed to over the years. But as a cheaper alternative, I can't recommend this figure enough. The paint job is superb - I can proudly display this figure with my S.H. Figuarts and while it will obviously stand out a little, as you can see in photos the figure still looks very nice.
This figure is part of the Wave 4 case assortment and is available at online retailers, and has yet to be spotted frequently in stores. A very special thanks to my buddy Fury Diamond from RangerCrew.com for helping me acquire the Wave 4 figures.

I love how some of these figures have paint apps that they forgot on the original figures from their toy lines.
RPM Red has the white lines on his arms for one. Samurai Red also has the red triangular shapes on his legs that were missing on the 4in figures.
BOA have really done an amazing job with the paint on these figures.

Ooh, if this ever makes it here I want one. Obviously a Figuart would be better, but I don't know if Bandai is ever thinking of making a Go-on Red Figuart.
I need to commemorate the series that reintroduced me to Toku somehow.

For a BoA release, this isn't too bad. As usual with PR figures the body is overly muscled, but the paint applications are impressive, particularly on the helmet.
