Everyone’s favorite segment, Let’s Watch Wednesdays, returns from Kamen Rider Den-O’s movie! Now for the consequences…
Gaoh has been defeated and time saved for now, but at a cost. The delicate bond Ryutaro had with the 4 Imagin is broken. Now the Imagin of Den-Liner, all but Momotaros, will fade away. But something is left behind, composed of all Ryutaro’s feelings and memories of them. However this device may be the key to unlocking the greatest power of Den-O. The ultimate Climax. Meanwhile Yuuto is faced with a harsh reality. With only one Zeronos card left, his next battle may be his last. What is the dark secret of the cards and their hidden cost? Can he rely on Deneb and Ryutaro’s new power forever?
Den-O Trivia #11
We’ve talked about the Imagin and their design origins, but how about a little behind the scenes action? When talking about the Imagin they of course have incredible suit actors which bring them all to life. Equally as important though is the voice which gives them each a unique personality. The lovable Deneb is of course voiced by the wonderful Hochu Otsuka!
Otsuka has been doing voice overs for many many years and in that time has had some seriously great roles that fans of anime and animation in general will recognize. A mere fraction of his roles include Chibodee Crocket from Mobile Fighter G Gundam, Jiraiya from Naruto, Ultra Magnus from Transformers Headmasters, even Captain Planet himself, and so on. But perhaps the two greatest roles tokusatsu fans will know him for outside of Deneb are the fantastic Signalman from Gekisou Sentai Carranger and the Narrator of Kamen Rider Gaim!

And for now at least, time is restored.
But the cost of the Climax Scene must be collected.
Ryutaro forgot the Imagin, now he'll lose them.
Momotaros is all that remains.
But a connection to the others remains.
A final Climax is born,
The power of 4 Imagin, becomes 1!
And Yuuto only has 1 card left.
What is the true cost of the Zeronos Cards?

Ladies and gentlemen, the funniest super mode debut ever has arrived .

The Climax form henshin is one of mine favorite moments in Den-O and I have to say I love how the movie was the cause for it.

Toy production: We need to introduce a new device for Den-O.
Writer: What? Why?
Toy production: Like you have to ask. Let's make it a phone so he can use it once and then never talk to his Imagin on it again.
Honestly, I get that it was useful for Climax form, but it was pointless later on in the series, and underused.
It also gave me a reason to smack my head over the Zeronos cards, but realize another important Kamen Rider troupe: If you're the sidekick, your belt is probably trying to kill you.

Fell behind a bit last week, so first things first:
Coffee-tachi the Movie 1
One of the better Den-O movies, but not my favorite. Kamen Rider Kouga's Dad is just mediocre as a villain (but way, waaaaay better than the dude who'll be showing up on the series soon) and I'm not sure what's up with him constantly eating. I did like the stuff with the capture Imagin on the train, though.
The kid playing 12-year-old Ryotaro did a pretty good job. I like that he transforms into a kid-sized Den-O instead of magically growing to adult size. This time.
I thought the ending was nice and heartwarming.
And, because I need to count something else:
Use of Edo sets in Den-O films: 1

You know, I'd completely forgotten how Ryoutarou got the... whatever that thing is called. I guess I just blanked on it because it was such a random and blatant ass-pull (and yet I remember how the Liner Form sword is made, which is even worse). I also forgot how great and hilarious the first Climax Form transformation is.
That said, I really don't like the Climax Form suit. It's way too busy and the mask moving gimmick is really dumb. The story leading up to it was good, but pretty badly rushed. I don't think we needed a whole second episode to this, but the pacing was pretty rushed.
This episode is one of the ones that really makes me like Ryoutarou, though. He may be the weakest Rider ever, physically, but he has a ton of spirit and really tries to puch past his limits no matter how hard it gets.

Okay, um... triple-post, I guess?
Coffee-tachi 29-30
I'd forgotten how self-contained these two episodes are. We've got the ongoing stuff with the Taros learning to be forced to work together and the Zeronos card thing, but the Imagin and victims are unique to these episodes. I forgot the show did this and now I wonder if there are any other standalone episodes after this point.
Either way, these were fun, although I liked 30 more. Unfortunately, although it isn't evident, these episodes represent a big turning point in the show.
If you're watching Den-O for the first time, you may have noticed that Hana wasn't in these last few episodes much. She disappeared completely halfway through 29 and didn't leave the Denliner until the ending of 30. And, sadly, this week is the last time we'll be seeing Yuriko Shiratori on Den-O.
The story of exactly why she left has always been a little vague, but it's usually said that she couldn't handle the workload of appearing in a weekly series and it affected her health. It's not the first time something like this had happened; in fact, just the year prior Yui Satonaka who played Hiyori on Kabuto also had to miss out on several episodes due to health concerns. I read on Igadevil's old website a few years back - and this is just speculation, mind you - that he thought the producers were hoping to get Shiratori back after a short break. Unfortunately, that didn't happen and Hana's actress was gone for good.
So what did the show about losing one of its central characters? Well, if you don't know already you'll find out next week.

So, what's the song that plays in ep. 29 when Zeronos henshins? It's not Action Zero, and it sounds a bit like the 11th Doctor's theme.
