TokuNation is back with another exciting climax in Kamen Rider Den-O for Let’s Watch Wednesdays!
As Yuuto continues to struggle with the final Zeronos Card, their secret is revealed. Airi can’t remember any version of the Sakurai Yuuto she once loved. Because every time one of Zeronos‘ cards is used something incredibly important is lost, memories of Sakurai Yuuto! Each card contains a memory someone else has of him. And a new line has appeared in time twisted and mangled, this line doesn’t connect to Den-Liner, yet. But its tremors are being felt across time. No one will know that better than Hana. Could this line cross into her destroyed time? Where does it lead to, the future? Or the past?
Den-O Trivia #12
You may have noticed something big changed this week. And that’s Hana’s actress! For reasons we’ll find out later within the shows plot, Hana has regressed in age to that of a child. Some of you may even have noticed that Hana’s original actress, Yuriko Shiratori, last appeared in episode 30. After Ore Tanjou her involvement began to decline somewhat but she abruptly left the show at episode 30. So you’ll notice the ignorance of her absence by the shows plot.
In the real world what happened was Yuriko Shiratori became very over worked while doing the show and she’s said to have exited the franchise because of health problems related to this. Other reports have variously claimed over the years that she was injured filming a stunt for the show and refused to return because of it. Whatever the case may be she left the show and never returned. Which may be a big missed opportunity for the young actress as Den-O went on to become the longest lasting franchise in Kamen Rider and by far one of the most successful. But her replacement Tamaki Matsumoto stuck with it as Kohana for years, all the way into the Cho Den-O Trilogy!
Den-O says
The end of his power.
Memories of Sakurai Yuuto,
lost forever.
The Hana we knew is gone.
She will never be the same.
A new line of time,
to the future or past?
So Let's Watch Den-O 31-33!

All I felt was sad because I <<<<<<REALLY>>>>> liked Yuriko Shiratori. However, isn't it ironic how the actress left in a show about loss?
I also felt like these three episodes would have been a better turning point if written a little differently for how to treat the new line of time. Maybe it's just me because I felt like it floundered a bit, but everything does come to light.
Also, we're only up to 33 on the LWW? Dang, that's what I get for binge watching. I already finished this series, Faiz, and I'm working on Ryuki.

Has the dude playing the asshole banker been in any other tokusatsu? He looks kinda familiar.
I do not get why everyone wants Airi so much. Yeah, she's pretty, but she's got less brains than a potato. I swear, it always seems like her head is so empty that sound can't travel through it.
I like the black and green split-down-the-middle color scheme of the main Imagin. Kamen Rider should do something else with that.

Rina Akiyama is so fun and adorable as Naomi. It's a pity she pretty much never gets anything to do. Having her briefly fill in for Hana here is one of her few actual spotlight moments, and even then the scene is mostly about Deneb.
I don't think I've mentioned it yet, but it does bear pointing out just how awful Yuuto's mullet is when Deneb possesses him. Yea gods.

Big episode this time. A lot of major stuff happened, but I want to start by pointing out something I just discovered a couple days ago. Ryoutarou's friend from school - the one who remembered Sakurai - is played by Hikari Mitsushima, who had a much larger role on Ultraman Max as Elly, the android girl. She's great on that show and I highly recommend watching it if you haven't. Even if the last few episodes are only available with HK subs.
Anyway, the big change this time is Kohana. I get that the show needed to replace Shiratori somehow, and this actually was a pretty clever way to do it, but I never really liked Kohana. The actress does a fine job, but she never really feels like the same character and she gets so marginalized as the Den-O franchise keeps going that I honestly never noticed when she just disappeared for good. Even know, I'm having trouble remembering if that was before or after the Chou Den-O trilogy.
The other thing to note is that this is the crazy piano guy arc. I knew it was coming up, but forgot it was these episodes. I love this dude's story, mostly for reasons that we'll see in episode 34. The actor should also look familiar if you've seen Agito or Shougeki Gouraigan.

As for Kohana she was around for cho Den-O albeit briefly. I think she may have only been in the first two films, possibly not in the third one at all. Either way I thought she did a fine job working with what was given to her and sort of made the role her own by the the end of it.
