The wave(s) of villains continue with a look at the popular character from Power Rangers Dino Charge made in to plastic form - that's right, we're looking at Wrench (or Aigaron for you Kyoryuger enthusiasts).
Released in the first wave of villain figures, Wrench comes with his signature hand-axe weapon and with a ton of detailing and kibble attached to his body. Originally hard to find (but not so much now), this figure helps round out the generals under Sledge ... but we're still waiting on you, Poisandra!
Let's take a deeper look at the figure.
The Figure
Let me start off by saying that once again Bandai America has outdone themselves with a BEAUTIFUL looking figure! I mean seriously - this guy's level of detail (while missing in paint apps) in the sculpting is gorgeous. They've really outdone themselves on the 5" scale in terms of how the figure looks and feels.
As always, the paint apps leave a little bit to be desired but they are not as blatantly missing on some of the other figures released in this assortment.
The articulation is pretty good - you have a head on a ball joint (but it cannot move sideways, only left and right), full motion on the arms (at least to a point where the shoulder kibble gets in the way), elbow joints, full motion leg movement (again with kibble), and ankle joints - yes, ankle joints. Sadly, there are no knee joints in this figure. That's not a huge miss mostly because of the kibble all over the figure that would get in the way of any meaningful pose anyways.
Overall - I love Wrench, and he's my favorite figure from this entire assortment (yes, even beating out Bones who just looks badass).
The Accessories
He comes with his hand-axe, and yes it has no paint apps (at this point should we even talk about it? None of the 5" figures have painted accessories unless they're packaged in the Legacy line). It serves its purpose fairly well.
The Good
The Bad
Overall Conclusion
Wrench is a must-buy in my opinion. If you're a fan of Dino Charge or even Kyoryuger, this is a great representation of the character who is in the show from start to finish (well, at least he was in Kyoryuger). The fact that he looks awesome just helps round out what is turning out to be a pretty awesome 5" figure line from Bandai America.
You can find Wrench in your local Wal-Mart stores (if they've stocked anything past wave 2 that is).

Would be an insta-buy if he had a swappable "wiping away a tear" hand. Still a pretty BRAVE figure.

I'm really loving all these villains. And Wrench is probably my favourite design of the lot, so I'll keep an eye out.

Ya know, the lack of knee joints would have normally killed it for me, if they hadn't gone about it so intelligently. The knees woudn't do much anyway, because of the skirt armor, and they compensate perfectly by giving him great range in the arms! This is what i like to see! If you have to leave articulation out, do it smart and compensate somewhere else to make up for it. Looking forward to the figure!

I did not watch Kyoryuger and do not watch Dino Charge, but seeing all of these various villains and monsters in the line is really cool. Reminds me of the old school Evil Space Aliens assortments back in the MMPR days, and I am tempted every time I see one of these guys on the pegs.
