According to the official @PowerRangers twitter account, the names for the characters in the Power Rangers 2017 Movie are confirmed to be the original names. That’s right – Jason, Zack, Billy, Kimberly, and Trini are officially the names of your big screen spandex heroes.

This pretty much puts to rest all the news that the Entertainment website Collider had been releasing (the movie being set in-continuity and entirely new names created) as being false.

I was hoping it wasn't a total MMPR-reboot.
Call them what you want; still think this is gonna crash & burn.
Man. There was a part of me that was hopping this was not a reboot that this is in the Power Rangers universe. But reboot or no reboot i will see this movie.
Oh thank God! Names are names and there was nothing wrong with the ones in the rumors, except the Red Ranger's last name was Oliver, so it would have had some relation to Tommy which I did not want.

I'm glad that the movie is going to be a alternate version of MMPR. People are going to see this movie and hope for a alternate retelling of MMPR similar to how Transformers was in 2007. MMPR is the show that most people grew up with. The movie is set in it's own universe, so they can do whatever they want as long if it's good.
Well... alright then. I was actually kinda liking the idea of not doing this, but oh well.
