Power Rangers Dino Charge 5 Inch Spellbinder Gallery

Posted on November 28, 2015 at 10:00 am by Chris under Power Rangers

We’ve reached the final assortment in the 5″ figure line from Power Rangers Dino Charge before we start seeing the releases of the 5″ line of Power Rangers Dino Supercharge. In this final assortment are the rest of the villains that have been previewed since early 2015 by Bandai America.

Today we take a look at Spellbinder. While he LOOKS cool with beautiful sculpting, can the figure with limited articulation, paint applications, and no accessories succeed in putting a spell on us? Click the Discuss on TokuNation forums link and see 17 high definition images and a review on this villainous figure!

Watch out for the bird-wizard thing!

The final assortment of figures under the official banner Power Rangers Dino Charge featured the release of the remaining villains seen in the first season of Power Rangers Dino Charge. Included in this assortment of villains is Spellbinder, a crow-like villain who, in the show, used his powers to mesmerize the Dino Charge Black Ranger to turn against his friends.

But will this figure cause you to turn on the villain figures? Read on to find out!

    The Figure
As always, Bandai America has knocked the sculpting out of the ballpark. Spellbinder is beautifully sculpted with multiple feathers across his entire body and a decently sculpted "nest" atop his head, just as the character had in the show. The paint applications are, as usual, substandard at best but it doesn't really take away from the figure. There's a great gradient effect on his cape that rests upon his shoulders, but aside from that (and some great apps on his legs), there's nothing else there.

His articulation is pretty limited. You have full rotation in the head (which comes off easily), the arms can go forward and backward, the legs can do the same and there's a bend at the knees. Sadly, there are no elbow joints in this figure. I would have liked to see some more articulation in this guy, but compared to some other figures in this assortment (cough SLAMMER cough), he's not too bad...

Fun fact - his head comes off (see the final pic in the gallery) and it makes you think his cape can come off as well. Sadly, it does not. At least, not without a LOT of force, as I believed it's either sculpted or seriously pegged in to the figure. I attempted to remove it but stopped in fear of breaking the figure.

    The Accessories
    There are none.

    The Good

    • Another beautiful sculpting
    • Villains are always a good thing

    The Bad
    • No accessories
    • Limited articulation
    • Limited paint applications
    • Feels like a swing and a miss after so many home runs in the first assortment

    Overall Conclusion
If you're collecting the Power Rangers Dino Charge 5" figure line, or you're just collecting the villains, then this is an easily justifiable purchase. If you are not and you're picking out the gems of each assortment then sadly I'd recommend passing on this guy. Spellbinder just doesn't hold up very well, but he's far from the biggest disappointment in this assortment (COUGH SLAMMER COUGH).

    Happy hunting!

He's not one of my favourite Dino Charge designs, but I think they pulled off his look well. Also a decently memorable villain. Really glad for all these villain figures and thank you, Kickback, for these galleries.

I saw this guy in TRU a few weeks back. If he had the purple cape, I think I would have picked him up, he has a cool look. Same with Slammer; I mean, yeah, he looked very poorly articulated but would have displayed nice with my classic Evil Space Alien figures.

OT, I would have really liked to get a figure of Spellbinder from PR:LR back in the day.
