Garo – The Animation English Dub Cast Announced by FUNIMATION

Posted on February 27, 2016 at 11:34 pm by Chris under Garo

Today at Anime Matsuri, the English dubbing company FUNIMATION, known by most casual fans for their English dub of Dragonball Z, announced the upcoming cast for the English language dub! Check out the voice talents, and who they’re playing, below!

León Luís – Ricco Fajardo
Germán Luís – David Wald
Alfonso San Valiante – Justin Briner
Bernardo Dion – Ivan Jasso
Mendoza – Vic Mignogna
Anna Luís – Anastasia Munoz
Ema Guzmán – Monica Rial
Garm – Tia Ballard
Rafael – Ben Bryant
Zaruba – Barry Yandell
Octavia – Colleen Clinkenbeard
Fernando – Ben Phillips
Esmeralda – Dawn M. Bennett
Ximena Coronado – Jad Saxton

FUNIMATION summarizes the story of Garo – The Animation as follows:

A long time ago in the kingdom of Valiante, humans shared the world with Horrors—monsters who feed on humans with weakness in their hearts. Desperate to put an end to the Horrors’ reign, the King allowed his advisor Mendoza to launch a witch hunt targeting the magic users who had sworn to protect humanity from evil.

One-by-one the famed Makai Knights and Alchemists were cut down by Mendoza and his men. That is, until a young Makai Knight named León inherited the golden armor of Garo and with it, the power to save the kingdom. But unlike the other Makai Knights who fight to protect humanity, León is young, reckless, and driven by his desire to avenge his mother’s death at Mendoza’s hands. How can an immature Golden Knight who fights for the wrong reasons hope to protect anyone?

Garo – The Animation Season One Part One English dub will release on DVD and Blu-Ray on April 26th. This will be a great chance for fans who are unfamiliar with the Garo franchise to get to know one of the more popular tokusatsu series with older audiences. Vic mignogna? Hell yes! He has recently become one of my favorite voice actors thanks to FMA and Qrow from RWBY.

Will definettly collect this DVD/Blue Ray. For what it was it was very good in my personal opinion.

If only now, they would retell the very first season of Garon in anime style. I would be sooooo Happy. O well, I can dream can I?!

Hopefully this series won't escape UK release, I'd like to be able to pick it up on BD without having to invest in a new player.

I'd say this stands a better chance of a UK release than any of the live action shows. Anime is an easier sell than toku for some reason. It's going to be pretty damn weird hearing Garo things spoken in English though.

You can change region codes on your computer from I can remember.

Yeah, but you can only do it so many times.
It would also require my computer having a BD drive.

Just for completions sake: You don’t need to change anything since your disk drive can read it. It’s the operating system that blocks the foreign region code. Get the VLC player and you can play any DVD on your PC without changing your region. Don’t know how it fairs with BluRays but it should function similarly.

Region-free Blu Ray players have dropped quite a bit in recent years. They're down to the $100 - $150 price range. I'm not sure what PAL units run, though, to be honest.

It requires a separate drive though, which would be a purchase I don't necessarily want to make just for this.

Yeah, they run about the same in GBP. Again, not really a purchase that's worth it for me just yet. I'll just wait it out and see what happens since I'm in no rush to own this anyway. Besides, buying a US version right off the bat would be counter-productive industry support-wise I guess.
