While not necessarily a NEW release, this item is still pretty relevant if only because of the upcoming Legacy Black Dragonzord, set to release this coming summer. This release was first available at San Diego Comic Con 2015 as an Entertainment Earth booth exclusive (where this version was purchased), and was then released and is still available at Toys'R'Us. However, when they're gone ... they're gone! So don't wait! Here is our gallery and review - enjoy!
Mastadon
Identical to the original Legacy release of the item, save for the black and gold colors, the Mastadon in my opinion is still the stand out item in the entire lineup of zords in this set. With more diecast in it than the others (the back of the Mastadon that forms the arms is made of diecast metal), the gold trimming on the zord as well as the gold paint/stickers just make it pop as a very visually appealing zord.
The only downside, which will be repeated on all of the zords, is that dust will easily show on your figure because of the sheer amount of black plastic.
Sabertooth Tiger
Again, identical to the original Legacy release save for the colors, the Sabertooth Tiger suffers from the same issues, mainly that the forward legs just don't really work for this zord. I should clarify - they work (as in the thing can stand), but they just don't look right or function in a way that makes me think "This is a masterpiece toy!". Then again, I suppose it's not a "masterpiece" in name, but given the price, it should be.
On top of that, stress on the plastic is easily shown, as I can see various cracks or dings in the molding. It gives me the feeling that this zord wasn't designed with longevity of mold-use in mind when it was created (this will be it's 3rd use, possibly 4th run depending on when the re-issue went in production).
Triceratops
The horns look great in gold colors. Otherwise, not much to write home about this version of the figure. Not the best, but far from the worst.
Pterodactyl
This is one of the better versions of this zord because the gold seems to really make the details of the molding pop more, which is nice because the original seemed really bland, even with the white coloring. Still, it feels pretty "cheap" because of the fact it's such thin plastic, even though it's not very cheap.
Tyrannosaurus Rex
Another stunning piece that really comes alive with the gold coloring. The black plastic does seem to mute out some of the other detailing that the previous red/gray version showed off. However, the articulation, the mouth movements, and just overall look make this, in my opinion, the continued stand out zord of the group.
The Tank Mode
I suck and can't get the Pterodactyl to stay in place, so he gets to balance on the T-Rex. Overall, a big massive imposing dinosaur tank is pretty impressive, and more so when unified in black and gold colors.
The Megazord Mode
The reason this paint scheme was done was to show off this mode in amazing black and gold colors. This truly is the only way to show off this figure and it shows that the color scheme was created for you to display the set in Megazord mode.
The gold sword isn't metallic, simply gold shiny chrome, and it works. The Mastadon Shield stands out a little bit too because of the red eyes - a theme of all the zords in this set.
The Good!
The Bad
The Overall Conclusion
If you're looking to buy the upcoming Black Legacy Dragonzord, then you HAVE to have this figure, because those two were made to combine together and be awesome looking. If not, then you should only buy this if you're collecting and/or just think it looks great.
I do not regret my purchase and look forward to displaying it as it's true identity - the Zeo Gold Ranger's Retro Megazord!

Totally with you on Zeo Gold stomping around in this.
This particular item got me hooked on the various black and gold releases. It didn't really impress me in pictures last year, but once I saw one in person I had to have a shelf of black and gold robots (with Super Legends Zeo Gold shooting the breeze on the same shelf.)

This would have looked perfect with the Black and Gold Galaxy Megazord from a few weeks ago It still looks good on its own though, but its far too expensive for me to consider looking at getting.

Looking very very nice, I've never handled this one in person. The only one I ever physically had, was the one I gave away for Toku Toy Box But it looks great. Need to find one to sue for comparisons with my vintage Black Daizyujin....

It's a shame the Megazord never got a "true" Legacy treatment. While all the other Legacy Zords have engraved detail and paint apps, the Megazord still relies on decals.

Love this figure! One of my collection faves.

I still have to figure out how to walk away with this one for under $100. (I know right....) #Wishfulthinking.
