In a move surprising many, Bandai has jut revealed official release details for S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Gold Drive! Most surprising of all? He’s going to be a retail release!
Gold Drive is a pretty straightforward repaint of Drive Type Speed with the Proto-Drive Tire. As such he’ll almost definitely be a good figure if you have any experience with that mold at this point. Gold Drive includes 4 sets of hands and one replacement part for the Banno Driver to replicate Banno’s face readout.
S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Gold Drive will be released at retail in September for 5940 yen.
That's right he's a normal retail release!

And he was revealed on Golden Week. Bandai you cheeky sons of...
I'm amazed that Type Asshole doesn't come with much, for the price they want shouldn't he come with more?
Yeah. Ok. Lord Baron, Chase, Necrom are web exclusive...Banno is retail. Yeaaaaah. Bandai is just fucking with us now.
Lack of accessories is disappointing though. They could have thrown in the stolen weapons or something. Weird that he's so pricey considering it's just a Type Speed recolor.
It's so pretty. I expect this will go right up there with Abyss and Gaim Kachidoki as one of my favorite suites to own in toy form.
(Is there enough time left for a Super Evolved Heart TWE announcement too? Pretty please?)
I'm partly convinced by now that Bandai just flips a coin to decide whether or not a SHF is retail at this point...
This is really random. I will most likely get it because I pretty much got everything else from that line.
BOO the feet are molded instead of stickers, totally inaccurate 0/10
The only thing I can come up with why so many "popular" characters or ones that would’ve been retail release aren't is that maybe they want to have some room for the upcoming Rider 1 and the rumored Amazons among the rest of the Ghost stuff. I mean that still doesn’t explain why Gold Drive is a retail release, but maybe they think Gold Drive will sell better than Necrom or Gatack.
Is anyone else more confused why they're doing it as a retail release a full year after the show has ended? The fact that it's retail is strange, granted, but more confusing is the timeframe- that's the part that bugs me.
