Limited Edition Legacy Dragonzord Gallery

Posted on May 28, 2016 at 10:00 am by Chris under Power Rangers

The Limited Edition Legacy Dragonzord figure has been released and it is a beautiful piece of black and gold plastic! We’ve posted up a full gallery of the figure, including the Battle Mode and Armor Mode which combine with our Limited Edition Legacy Megazord figure (click here to check out that gallery!).

Is this recent Legacy release worth the price tag of $80? Are there any improvements since the first release of the Legacy Dragonzord? Could this be an alternate universe Zeo Gold Ranger Zord? All these answers and more in our gallery and review of the Limited Edition Legacy Dragonzord!

To check out the full gallery – please click here and view over 45 images of the Limited Edition Legacy Dragonzord! Then join in the discussion and share your thoughts! Did you pick one up? Are you going to? Hopefully our gallery and review can help make up your mind!

Speculated for months, anticipated for fewer, and now available at Toys'R'Us, the Limited Edition Legacy Dragonzord is out! We raced out to one of our local Toys'R'Us locations and picked one fresh off the truck, raced home, and took an in-depth gallery for everyone.

So - aside from being oh so pretty, how does this thing stack up? Check out our review along with 40+ images!

    The Dragonzord - Figure

Can you call it a figure? Anyhow, the Limited Edition Dragonzord is identical to the Legacy Dragonzord release with two main exceptions - the color (duh), and at least in my release, better support for those heavy, heavy "Z" knees (especially in the armor mode).

For whatever reason, this release also feels a bit more top heavy - my Dragonzord struggled to stand in certain poses and continued to want to fall one notch forward - which became quite annoying when trying to pose it for the perfect picture.

Overall, the Legacy Dragonzord is just as good as the original in terms of being a figure, and it has a (in my opinion) much more pleasing paint job.

    The Gold Chrome

Right off the bat you'll notice the gold chrome is a much darker shade than that on the Limited Edition Megazord figure. I don't know if that was done intentionally or if it was a mix-up when coming up with the colors. The change in colors does cause it to clash somewhat when combined with, or standing next to, the Limited Edition Megazord. The Megazord has almost a muted gold color chrome while the Dragonzord has a vibrant in your face colored chrome. It works for the Dragonzord - especially in Battle Mode (wow!), which does help make the crest stand out even more compared to the shoulders/arms which are the lighter color gold.

    Battle Mode

Simply gorgeous. I'm biased but I cannot find anything wrong with this mode. The gold chrome stands out something fierce and makes for a very nice display piece. The off-color gold chrome of the Limited Edition Megazord doesn't hinder the Limited Edition Dragonzord at all - in fact it makes your eyes go straight to that giant beautiful crest.

    In "Armor" Mode on Megazord

The "Z" doesn't seem quite as heavy - mine stood in place and has stayed in place since the gallery. In the original release, it was too heavy and would often "flop" forward. It was pretty painful to get the pieces to connect between the Megazord and Dragonzord, and even then I had to rig it a bit to make it work. I got scared of possibly scratching the chrome or black paint but I walked away unscathed.

    Overall

If you're a fan of gold chrome, or you bought the Limited Edition Megazord, you need to buy the Limited Edition Dragonzord. The thing is just a piece of beauty and really stands out. The price tag may be off-putting to some ($79), but again - I stand by my stance when I say it's worth it.

WARNING - some people have had bad luck and picked up LE Dragonzords that have major chrome chipping/flaking/scratching. Far as I know, there is no way to tell what you have until you open it. I suggest popping open the package in the car to determine if yours is a lemon or a diamond.

Hope you enjoy! Thanks for reading!

Man, I wish the legs had some kind of clip for the knees. I love the battle mode, but I hate that I can't pick up the megazord.

Color scheme looks nice. I like the splashes of red~

I wish someone would post some shots of both of them combined with Legacy Titanus.

I think they're waiting for the black and gold Titanus to be made

Well I'm hoping for it since I didn't get Titanus when he was originally released.

I saw this at Toys R Us today. I considered picking it up but I don't know how I feel about the black and gold. I really doubt we'll get another run of the first one though (can't tell you how many times I almost bought it) so I might still grab it.

You ready to drop $200 for it?

If you plan on displaying the Dragonzord, I'd say go for it.
A lot of people knock the Dragonzord for it's poor transformation and shit knee construction in fighter mode, but I think the DZ is a display piece in and of itself, not Gouryuujin.

See, I love Gouryujin (don't know the English name) and would love to be able to build that...alas, I don't own a legacy Megazord and it seems like Toys R Us doesn't sell them anymore. But I've wanted a Dragonzord since I was a kid and this is likely to skyrocket in price once production stops just like the rest of the legacy stuff, so I may as well get it while I still can. Maybe a Won Tiger (Tigerzord? It's been a while...) as well if I see one somewhere.

As for the knees, that's definitely a shame.

edit: considering that it's already going on eBay for a ton of money and a local Toys R Us has one, I think I might just have to go back and grab it tomorrow.
