S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Mach Chaser Official Images & Info

Posted on November 1, 2016 at 7:59 pm by Den-O under Kamen Rider

After it’s initial reveal this past weekend Bandai has just released official images & info for S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Mach Chaser!

This special form, debuting in the Drive Saga: Kamen Rider Mach V-Cinema film, is accessed using the new Ride Crosser Shift Car. Further deepening the blend of Mach & Chasers’ powers. This stylish figure is a straight repaint of the previously released Chaser Mach form, but rather than including the same accessories, changes it up a little. This time around Mach Chaser includes 2 sets of hands, the Zenrin Shooter, and an effect part for the shooter itself. Sadly this release does not include the Shingou/Signal Axe.

S.H. Fiagurts Kamen Rider Mach Chaser will be release in May 2017 for 5940 yen as a Tamashii Web Exclusive release. Contact your favorite middleman or web service today to secure an order for one!

I really... REALLY want this one.

But I can't justify that much plus fees for a figure I pretty much already have minus a very nice coat of metallic blue and an Effect part.

...Is this the first time a KR figuarts has gone up for preorder before the thing the figure is from is even out? Because dang. I guess all those Drive exclusives must be selling like crazy if we're getting V-Cinema forms this early now. Though I suppose the fact that it's a retool also plays a part.

Not a huge fan of this design, but the figure looks well executed. Kind of a silly detail to focus on but in particular I really like the way the hands look. The metallic look is nice.

And dang, effect parts? I thought Bandai didn't do those anymore.

I suspect it's a large part. Gol(r)d Drive was a retail release, which was a bit of a stunner, but it was so easy for them to re-do: Type Speed head, Proto-Drive torso, adjust the paint, and leave out the shift car: done. Bandai has gotten a lot of use out of the Type Speed, Mach, and Chaser (Mashin and Rider) molds. There's just not that much tooling necessary for a lot of these given that the show and its spin-offs kept remixing existing body parts in different configurations. I also think this is one of the reasons Gaim releases dried up: why would Bandai risk significant amounts of new tooling costs when they can produce Riders that mostly reuse existing parts?

To be fair, pretty much all the remaining Gaim figuarts (except for like, Suika Arms) would also mostly reuse the vast majority of their parts. The only new things they'd have to make for them are the chest/armor, the heads, and the weapons. And the lockseeds, I guess. It's not as little as they have to do for these Drive figures but it's still not a lot. Like, if they finished just one Gaim Rider that uses one of the apple-based Arms, they could just reuse that for like 5 or 6 different figures. Most of the helmets for the remaining forms and Riders can also easily be retooled from other Rider's (Gaim's in particular saw a lot of use). And then there's forms that don't even need that, and would be nearly complete just with a recolor, like Black Jimba Arms, Black Baron, or even Watermelon Zangetsu. And I mean, we have seen pretty much all of them in events, so we know they have at least workable prototypes. I really do think it has more to do with the fact that pretty much all of them were throwaway characters or forms, rather than the cost of new parts. The Drive figuarts have an advantage in that not only are they cheap to make but basically all of them are still one of the three main Rider characters, which makes them easier sells. Heart and Banno are exceptions, but they're also both very popular characters, so it makes sense as well.

Wow I didn't expect this figure this fast, the movie isn't even out yet.

I'm preordering this. For whatever the suit has grown on me and I like it in figure form. And it's Mach related. When does this go on preorder?

NY already has it up I see. Any other sites that would have this bad boy up? I normally don't preorder web exclusives.
