In case you missed it, some big news regarding next year’s Super Sentai show’s next year came out. Since then, the rumor mill’s begun churning.
Some unconfirmed rumors have appeared on Tokuinsider via J-Hero. Do note that at the time of this write-up, nothing has been confirmed by Toei or any official channels. So until we hear otherwise from them, please take this with an injection of salt. None the less, the rumors are as follows:
-Both Patoranger and Lupinranger will count as the 42nd Sentai.
-The two shows are both separate works, and the same show, with intersecting storylines that take place in the same world. The shows will air alternately from week to week, and when each reaches episode 20, the show will become one solidified story.
-The toy line will essentially be separate until this joining happens, with the 4th quarter toys able to combine and interact.
-One of the members of Lupinranger is actually an undercover spy for Patoranger. It is likely this cast member will be prominently featured on both shows.
Again, none of this has been 100% confirmed by Toei or another official channel. These rumors could likely be fake, so do take them with a grain of salt until we hear from a more reliable and official source.

We are in for a treat this year, it's been officially confirmed that Toei has filed for two separate trademarks for new Sentai!
- Keisatsu Sentai Patoranger
- Kaito Sentai Lupinranger
Right now the consensus is that these two teams will fight one another but only time will tell!

Kiwami says
Yeah, sounds like a detective vs. cat burglar scenario with a Sentai team for each side, very interesting!
Electric Turahk says
Definitely sounds pretty cool.
toughfighter83 says
sounds like good rangers vs villian rangers, good mechas vs bad mechas aka dekaranger
although i hope we get talking mechas for good mechas to act as their partners.

With this and Lupin the III, I'll ask: What does Lupin translate into?
I'm liking this better than KyuRanger becoming the next PR!

The character of Lupin was first introduced in a series of short stories serialized in the magazine Je sais tout, starting in No. 6, dated 15 July 1905. He was originally called Arsène Lopin, until a local politician of the same name protested, resulting in the name change.
Lupin was featured in 17 novels and 39 novellas by Leblanc, with the novellas or short stories collected into book form for a total of 24 books. The first story, "The Arrest of Arsène Lupin", was published in the magazine Je sais tout on 15 July 1905.
The character has also appeared in a number of books from other writers as well as numerous film, television, stage play, and comic book adaptations.
Aside from the Arsène Lupin stories written by Maurice Leblanc (1864–1941) himself, five authorized sequels were written in the 1970s by the celebrated mystery writing team of Boileau-Narcejac.
Lalo says
Now they need to bring back Kamen Rider Lupin for the next Super Hero Taisen movie.
MangaArtist18 says
So, Lupinranger for thieves (Kaito = phantom thief) and Patoranger for detectives (Keisatsu = police)?
If this is a two-sentai series, this'll be a treat.
Tokumonkey says
Well, assuming they're for the same show, and assuming that show is the 42nd Super Sentai... and *further* assuming you're right about the cops-and-robbers thing because "lupin" in the only one of those words I recognize...
I'm figuring the title of the show will either be Keisatsu Sentai Patoranger or Patoranger vs. Lupinranger. Probably the former. I'm picturing a pair of two-or-three-member teams who eventually have to team up against an outside foe. I was assuming a three-hero initial team this year after a year of twelve heroes, but five to six across two teams would give us a standard cast size. Say, red, blue, and yellow for the initially heroic team and, I dunno, black, white, and violet for the other.
I'm just a little surprised because it doesn't necessarily sound magic/supernatural, which is where I assumed Toei would jump after a very sci-fi/futuristic year.
