Kraken Releasing Announces Garo: Kiba The Dark Knight Blu-Ray

Posted on October 19, 2017 at 4:29 pm by Den-O under Garo

Following up from Kraken Releasing’s Garo TV Series Parts 1 & 2 Blu-Rays, they’ve just announced their official home video release of Garo: Kiba The Dark Knight!

He was born the child of a Makai Knight and a Makai Priestess. He trained to become a Makai Knight and fight the nightmarish creatures known as Horrors. Everything changed when the forces of evil intervened and stole everything he loved, the man who was once named Barago turned to a darker path. Learning to hate everything he once cherished, and twisting his oaths and armor to a new, sinister purpose, he makes a monstrous bargain with the ultimate Horror and betrays the Makai Knights! Now, in a spectacular stand-alone side adventure, the dark Genesis of one of GARO’s most formidable villains is revealed in GARO: KIBA – THE DARK KNIGHT!

This film is slated for a February 20th, 2018 release and retails for $19.98 though it’s currently listed on sale on Kraken’s site for $12.99. As with their previous Garo releases it features Japanese audio with English subtitles.

I’ve still got to get their release of the first show, but I’m glad they plan on doing more.

I remember when I was surprise that we got the first Garo TV show being released in the US. I guess the anime Garo must be doing well to add more demand for the live action shows.

I hope Kraken could release Kamen Rider in the US. I feel like the series is big enough now to support a official release.

Hard to tell. I do know that Funimation just started a simuldub of the new season of the anime. Last I checked (which I admit has been a while) Funimation only simuldubs a hand full of shows per season, so I guess it must be doing something right.

I can see reasons to release Kiba now since it's a side story within the series, they just need to be releasing the special before Makai Senki.

PS To anyone that's never watched Garo and just got collection 1, that cover is full of spoilers.

Not really. The cover is the same picture used for Volume 1 of the Region 2 DVDs.

Talking about Kiba's cover, not collection 1's cover.

Ah. Yeah, I guess, but I'm going to also gander they are banking on those who are going to buy this to already have seen Season 1. If you have never seen the first season, you wouldn't even know the context of that cover.

Still find it awesome that the dude who plays Kiba was Taki in Kamen Rider Black.

This. It’s a good sign that even the more minor and obscure stuff like this is getting released, though. This is the one piece of Garo media that I always forget about.

I'm actually quite worried about the future of Garo releases in the US. Part 1 was so bare-bones it was almost OFFENSIVE, and the packaging was sloppy enough that I was almost worried I'd gotten some sort of boot-leg. Their asking price is high, they're not even releasing seasons as a package, and I haven't seen a speck of advertising anywhere. I really do wish a company like Funimation or Shout Factory had gotten their hands on this license instead.......as it is, I'm worried we won't even get the second series, much less more than this one movie.

Not to say we shouldn't be BUYING THIS STUFF ANYWAYS. The best chance of getting more is to throw money at them now, after all. Doesn't help ease my worries though.
