If you’ve been among those that have been itching to watch more classic Tokusatsu series in North America, we have great news for you. Discotek media during their Otakon panel announced that they’ll be releasing the Space Wolf Juspion Complete Series Blu Ray set complete with English subtitles.
Currently, there’s no word on when this set will see a release. For now, all we know is that Discotek media plans to release this set sometime Q1 2019. Stay tuned, and we’ll keep you updated once pricing and release dates have been announced!
Space Wolf Juspion first aired in Japan March 15, 1985, and ran until March 24th, 1986. While reading the Galaxy Bible, Ejin learns of a shocking prophecy: When the dark god Satan Gorth awakens, the universe will be ravaged by giant monsters filled with rage. After Satan Gorth appears and the prophecy is set in motion, Ejin orders Juspion, who Ejin has been tutoring, to stop him and combat the corrupted Megabeasts. He travels with his friends in the Daileon.

They also got Message from Space! It's basically Star Wars as a Japanese tokusatsu TV series.

This is... Pretty big right? I know someone who'll be as giddy as they were during the Smash Direct's CastleVania showcase
GoldenXtreme says
Oh, that's a more obscure one! I always love seeing more official English subtitled tokusatsu.
Kiwami says
"Standard Definition"? "SD on BD"? What is that supposed to mean? DVD-quality but on a Blu-ray disk regardless? Why though?
Aoi Kurenai says
It's a step in the right direction, but calling Metal Heroes "big" is a bit exaggerating IMO.
I'd definitely say this is big though. Metal Heroes are one of Toei's three big franchises and Juspion is one of the more popular entries in the series. It was aired in a couple of different countries around the world and I know it was pretty huge in Brazil.
Honestly, I'd say any tokusatsu series release in the US is huge news. This isn't something anyone ever really thought would happen just a couple of years ago.
I mean, yeah, there's the Kamen Rider V3 and Kikaider sets, but those were aimed squarely at Hawaii due to its connections to Japan.

Will there be others?
I'm actually amused at this!
Has the distributor released any other Tokusatsu before?
Eric says
Buying this so we can eventually get the Space Sheriff series stateside.
Switchblade says
Huh. This is right out of left field. I'll probably pick this up, even though I'm not a big Metal Heroes fan. I just think that something like this should be encouraged (also, if it does well, hopefully we'll get Metalder, which is one of my all-time favorite toku shows).
