UK to receive COMPLETE Gamera Blu-Ray Set in 2020

In some exciting news from across the pond, Arrow Films announced earlier in the year they have plans to bring the Gamera franchise to the UK on home video for the first time in 2020. A recent article from NEO magazine has shed some light on what will be included on the set.

According to the article, the blu-ray set will feature all 12 films from the kaiju turtle’s cinematic library – stretching from 1965’s Gamera the Giant Monster all the way up to 2006’s Gamera the Brave. Additionally, the Heisei trilogy (1995’s Gamera: Guardian of the Universe, 1996’s Attack of Legion and 1999’s Revenge of Iris) will all be presented in new 4K masters.

Further details and pricing for the set are yet to be confirmed, however it is slated for release some time in the summer. Stay tuned to Tokunation for more news as it comes!

    This is pretty big news for UK (as well as European in general) tokusatsu fans!

    All 12 films with 4K Masters for the Heisei Trilogy, coming summer 2020.

    Nothing official has been announced by Arrow so I'm not exactly going to take this at face value.

    We know they have Gamera but the exact contents of the box set are unknown. It seems to me like the authors of this article in NEO are speculating more than anything.

    I guess but it seems awfully specific to just pick out the Heisei films as having 4K Masters in that case?

    I was trying to find out who wrote the article but it doesn’t say specifically. They have a fair few people who write for them who do academic work on Japanese film so they could easily be in the know about it.

    Guess we’ll find out soon enough!

    I hope the US will get this set. Arrow does release things in the states unless the license holders tell them otherwise.

    I doubt it's cancelled, it just probably hasn't been put up yet.
