Bandai Japan Announces DX ROBO UNIVERSE Super Sentai Mecha Toyline

Posted on August 28, 2024 at 9:27 pm by Paladin under Super Sentai

A new line of Super Sentai Mecha toys is in the works!

Titled DX Robo Universe this new series features smaller but fully transforming versions of iconic Sentai Mecha with cross-compatible joints (similar to the Zord-Builder system previously used by Bandai America).

The first 3 entries in DX Robo Universe are:

*Engine-Oh from Engine Sentai Go-Onger!

*ToQOh from Ressha Sentai ToQGer!

*GokaiOh from Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger!

Each DX Robo Universe release is priced at 5280 Yen. EngineOh & ToQOh are scheduled for release in October 2024 while GokaiOh is slated for a December 2024 release.

Neat idea, underwhelming execution. It's quaint that they still have the combination gimmick, but the individual mechs look so bad (Especially Gokaiger's).
That said, I'm not totally against it. The combined forms look pretty nice, and I am curious to see some other robos. This line seems like prime real estate for arm swapping series like Gaoranger or Abaranger.

Is it just me, or does the ToQ1 guest appearance that's planned for the third act of Boonboomger seem like it could be related to this?

I mean, considering the starting line up is ToQ Oh, Engine Oh, and Gokai Oh two series that made guest apperances in Boonboon and an anniversary series, I wouldn't rule it out.

Well these look pretty awful. I assumed this was more like the Kyoryuger-stuff from last year, updated DX with more articulation.

These look worse than the OGs and have just as little articulation? If not less? I mean the mix-and-match playability is neat for sure, but I really don’t like the sacrifices they made because of it.

A bit sad how close they came to greatness with the King Ohger toys and then just went back into mediocrity right away…

Yeah, the lineup's not doing Engine-Oh and Gokaioh any justice with the joint parts sticking out, but strangely ToQOh here works for me. Honestly, I think they'd be doing the world and fandom a huge favor if they just sold completed somewhat-painted Super Miniplas as action figures instead of these. I get that they're trying to go the route of Frame Arms but with Super Sentai and for kids, but I am a tad concerned.

That's probably part of it, but I think the main reason is simply that Go-Onger, Gokaiger and ToQGer were profitable. If Kyoryuzin hadn't just received a new model, that would've likely been here as well.

Yeah, I was also expecting and hoping for something like the articulated Kyoryuzin, but instead we get a tiny BearRV getting crushed by a chubby Speedor. Totally not impressed at all.

ToQ Oh looks like it has an actual waist now, which could only be an improvement.... Not that I care about ToQ Oh, of course.

Tokyo Toy Show '24 Exhibit, with emphasis on Kamen Rider and Ultraman and Godzilla, but I'm putting it here cause it does showcase these new Sentai Robo figures and their interconnectivity. You can even get multiple versions of the same one and create some pretty ludicrous combinations!

I hope they make a Dragonzord, Tigerzord and Falconzord for these so I can make a Tommyzord CF
