Shout Factory, known for bringing Power Rangers to DVD recently here in the US, and the 3 Japanese exclusive G1 Transformers series before that, is taking a stab at some classic tokusatsu. Announced today, Shout Factory will be releasing a full DVD set of Ultra Q!
Ultra Q, as you may or may not know, is the precursor to the original Ultraman series which ran from 1966-67. This DVD release will contain the full 28 episode run of Ultra Q. Currently it’s unknown whether or not these DVD’s will only contain the Japanese audio track with english subtitles, or if it will also contain the elusive english dub produced in the late 60’s by Film House in Canada.
What is known is that it will be digitally colored and re-mastered from it’s original black and white, contain the full 6-disc 28 episode series, and that retail price will be $59.97. However pre-ordering through the shout factory site will reduce the price to $47.98.

While I'd love Super Sentai boxed sets, I am selfishly hoping for more Ultra -- Return, Ace, Taro, Leo, 80...

Hopefully if this sells well we can see the original Ultraman series in its entirety on DVD.

I'm a bit puzzled why they would choose to color it, and not leave it in the original black and white? Anyway, awesome news, definitely on my must-buy list!

Digitally colored? Yeesh that sounds awful. Those always look like pastel mush.
