It’s time once again for Let’s Watch Wednesdays to return to TokuNation! We’ve got another round of episodes with Kamen Rider Den-O!
Sakurai Yuuto. 2 men share this name, or rather 1 man from two times. One travels through the shadows of the past, the other has arrived in the present. With his own Ticket, his own belt, and his own train of time, the Zero Liner. Aided by the lovable Imagin Deneb, Yuuto has become Kamen Rider Zeronos! But what contract have they made? What powers lie in the Zeronos Cards? And what consequence does their use have? We only know one thing to start, he is fairly strong.
Den-O Fun Fact #7
Ryutaros, the happy go lucky child like Imagin of the Den-Liner crew is next on our list. Ryutaros is based on the legend of Taro, the Dragon Boy. Taro is said to have been a gluttonous lazy child who lived with his grandmother as a young boy. He didn’t help his fellow farmers, or do his chores, he merely played and ate. But one day he found out from his grandmother that his long lost mother, thought to be dead, had actually been turned into a dragon many years before and now slumbered at the bottom of a lake.
So Taro set out on a quest to find his long lost mother. Along his journey to find her Taro encounters all manner of vile creatures and demons of myth. At one point he’s given a cup of sake that once drunk, gives him the strength of 100 men. But only when he helps people, not when he’s being selfish. He learns to become a farmer, properly, and appreciate the land and the gifts it bears. By the end of his journey Taro become a self sacrificing hero of myth. Though Ryutaros has an overt dragon theme his carefree attitude and general laziness are more like the early version of Taro. But just as Taro one day became a selfless hero because of his journeys, Ryutaros will also.

Den-O says
How does his appearance effect the other future Sakurai?
A new Imagin, the lovable Deneb.
The train from a lost time, Zero Liner.
And what is the consequence of the Zeronos Cards?
These qustions and more will be raised in this installment of Kamen Rider Den-O!
So Let's watch episodes 19-21!

Deneb I choose you!
Who wouldn't want an Imagin that not only is nicer than you, but shoots from his hands?
And more of two hat man. Yay.
I needed more coffee to try to understand where they were going with this plot. Plus I would imagine there was one too many cradle robbing fanfics going on when this series originally aired. Ick.

Coffee-tachi 19-20
In which a tentacle monster drips pearlescent slime on a Japanese school girl. Yep, that happened this week.
So yeah, fell behind again. Last week kinda got away from me and then I spent the whole weekend watching Evo. I'll catch up again, though. Always do.
Except for when we were doing Magiranger, but screw Magiranger.
Anyway, these two episodes properly introduced Sakurai Yuuto and the best Imagin ever, Deneb. I'd forgotten how fun they were right from the start. Yuichi Nakamura, who played Yuuto, had also very infamously joined the cast of Kamen Rider Hibiki just a couple years earlier. His character, Kiriya, was brought in because new writer Toshiki Inoue can't fathom a show that doesn't have an unlikable douchebag whose sole raison d'etre is to make the lives of everyone around him more miserable. It's really fun, therefore, to see Yuuto try to act all cool and dickish around Ryotaro, only to revert to being a sullen, immature brat when it's just him and Deneb. Nakamura's casting for Den-O was met with a lot of hostility at first, but it's really easy to see why that opinion changed so quickly.
Watching these episodes, especially the end of #20, really makes me wonder again what the writers' original plans were for Hana. There are a lot of times when it seems that she and Ryotaro might have had some romantic chemistry before, well... the stuff we'll be seeing in a couple weeks happened.
Stargazing flashback count: 4
