Kamen Rider Den-O is approaching it’s final stop with Let’s Watch Wednesdays! As we approach the end, here’s where we stand.
With the debut of Liner Form things should be headed the right direction. Wrong. It seems Ryutaros was originally sent back in time to kill Ryutaro! And the one who sent him was someone from the Imagin’s future, Kai. But Ryutaros stands with his friends, so Kai sets his sights on Yuuto! In an effort to erase Yuuto from time, Kai will send an Imagin to his past. Will he succeed? Can Kamen Rider Zeronos be erased forever? Find out now.
Den-O Trivia 14
Did you notice something familiar this week? You may not have immediately recognized them but they’re there. Notice that Kai’s right hand man in his first appearances is the Leo Imagin. Leo has 3 underlings with him, the Leo Soldiers. Take a good look at their suits. Stll don’t see it? Those are in fact 3 Zectrooper suits from Kamen Rider Kabuto!
As is often the case in tokusatsu productions costumes are rehashed, reused, and canibalized for the sake of whatever the current production is. The Zectrooper suits were no different. These rider like characters were seen in large groups in Kabuto so it seems Toei could spare 3 suits to retrofit for Den-O. With their antennae removed, bug eyes covered in gold jewels, and the armor parts of their suits painted in gold it’s not surprising most people have never noticed this.

So these episodes were much better just because they finally slogged out of the movie tie in stuff. And Kai is possibly one of the nastiest baddies of the day. He's the equivalent of Gaim Roshuo mixed with ToQgger Zed.
I can't say I was expecting repainted Zectroopers.

A big arc, this one. We got two new characters, some major character development for Ryuutaros, and a lot of Rina Akiyama getting tossed around on a train.
The first, and by far most effective of the new characters is the station master. Yes, it's just Kenjiro Ishimaru in a different costume doing a silly voice (which is odd, since we only imagine that he looks like Owner), but he's still a lot of fun. The rice battle in episode 38 between him and Owner is only the first round. He'll be back and we will get the most epic fried rice battle ever.
The second new character is Kai and he's... well, he's shit. Complete and utter shit. His plans are really vague, he's totally incapable of seeming threatening, and he's more annoying than the hypothetical love child of Amane and Akiko on a caffeine binge. In the entire history of Kamen Rider - and I say this as someone who's extensively watched every series bar Super-1 - he has to be the single most pathetic and underwhelming excuse for a villain ever. There are some who have bigger flaws, but none that are as utterly without redeeming qualities as a villain as Kai.
Okay, maybe Archbishop Wing, but he was in, like, six episodes of V3 and had to follow the amazing Baron Fang. Kai doesn't have the excuse of being a fill-in villain stuck largely in recycled plots from the original series. He's meant to be the big bad of Den-O and he's just a complete failure at it.
On the upside, Takeru Satoh really gave a powerhouse performance in these episodes as Ryuu-Ryoutarou. I'm not sure if I mentioned this back when it first showed up, but that's actually him doing all the break dancing, not a stunt double. I really do think that, all in all, he's probably the most talented actor to ever headline a Rider show.

2. Yeah, Satoh probably is the best actor to portray a main Rider. He has to juggle five personas with some temp ones such as Sieg on the side. Plus as you said he's actually doing the dancing there(he could shown those Beat Riders a thing or two
Seriously, though, mad props to Team Gaim for figuring out how to jump in a circle and raise their arms without falling over.

In which Kai is still insufferable and the show manages to focus on Yuuto and Airi's memory but not include the stargazing flashback. Den-O, I am disappoint.
The stuff with Yuuto was good, though, and it was creepy seeing him dissolve into the Mirror World. I guess we'll never see him again because it's not like Zeronos is in the preview for the next episode or anything.
