Todays offering is the Mystic Dragon Zord, a tribute to Power Rangers Mystic Force. The basis for this figure is the DX Gokai Machine Magi Dragon[/URL] from Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger, itself an homage to Mahou Sentai Magiranger. This figure offers up a much more simplified version of the dragon's design. Quite a few paints apps are missed and the figure has been scaled down to be more in line with the equally smaller Legendary Megazord. Though it loses out in paint and a bit of complexity there is some added interaction with the included Red Mystic Ranger Key. On the original Magi Dragon you could pull back on the spring loaded wings to flap them. Here you can insert the ranger key into the dragons back while the head is folded in to spring it into place as well as flap the wings.
As an individual zord, the Mystic Dragon compromises the standard appearance of it in footage a bit by flipping the way the tail attaches and by removing some key paint apps from the wings. The combination it features with the Legendary Megazord likewise makes a few compromises but this set is highly compatible with the Zord Builder system so you can make a plethora of new combos, some of which I've goofed around with here. The instructions don't actually specify a name for the combined mode but based on the original Gokaiger version being known as Magi Gokai Oh it's safe to assume we could call this one Mystic Legendary Megazord. The included Green Super Mega Ranger is molded in one color with a few paint apps and is a totally static figure which can peg onto the dragons back.
Overall this set is a decent buy if you can find it at regular retail price. It's definitely intended for a more budgeted collector but will fit right in with any Zord Builder collection. The Mystic Dragon used for this gallery was found locally at Walmart for $14.95. Start checking your stores now!

Can the wings plug onto the front of the arms,or does it look wrong with them on front?

I like the Megazord of this more because well the Megazord mode. The dragon feet actually go over the entire foot unlike the Japanese version where they just were tiny.
The wings look like wings this time rather than like them folding out.

This figure I feel makes the biggest compromises compared to the others to get it to this cheaper price point.

I thought you were exaggerating when you texted me that it literally came "in pieces in a bag".
