It’s time for another trip down memory lane with the original dionsaur sentai. From Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger it’s S.H. Figuarts Armed Tyranno Ranger! This recent Tamashii Web Exclusive release is better known to western fans as the Mighty Morphin Armored Red Ranger, it was released in North American markets by Bluefin in Power Rangers 20th Anniversary packaging.
This figure represents Geki, Tyranno Ranger, after the death of Burai/Dragon Ranger. He inherited the Dragon Ranger powers from his brother and with them control over the mighty Dragon Caesar! This event was interpreted in the US MMPR adaptation as the Green Ranger powers being weakened and requiring a temporary host in the Red Ranger. The real world explanation for this is the above Zyuranger scenario, at the time no more footage was available of the Green Ranger. In the source footage he was literally dead. It wasn’t until the “Zyu2” footage was created by Toei that the Green Ranger could return on temporary occasions.
Overall this figure takes the best elements of both Tyranno & Dragon Rangers and crafts one excellent toy with them. If you have either of the other 2 figures you may feel this one is superfluous. Trust us, it isn’t. It’s another excellent addition to any Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger/Mighty Morphin Power Rangers collection and will complement your other figures well. After a long hiatus between galleries we're back with more Kyoryu Zentai Zyuranger action! Today's gallery is of none other than S.H. Figuarts Armed Tyranno Ranger!
For a little background, this figure represents Geki, Tyranno Ranger, after the death of Burai/Dragon Ranger. He inherited the Dragon Ranger powers from his brother and with them control of the mighty Dragon Caesar. This passing of power occurred in Zyuranger episode 42. This event was interpreted in the US MMPR adaptation as the Green Ranger powers being weakened and requiring a temporary host in the Red Ranger. The real world explanation for this is the above Zyuranger scenario, at the time no more footage was available of the Green Ranger. In the source he was dead. It wasn't until the "Zyu2" footage was created by Toei that the Green Ranger could return on temporary occasions.
The figure itself is nigh identical to the original Tyranno Ranger release. The accessories for Dragon Ranger have merely been applied to Tyranno. It should be noted that the Dino Buckler for this release has been painted gold as well, signifying the Dragon Ranger powers. A new permanently affixed Dragon Shield and arms bands are attached and he comes with a new black hip holster for the included Zyusoken (dragon dagger). 4 extra sets of hands, a Ranger Stick, and the Ryugekiken are also included. This figure basically comes with anything you could need. Though it may not have the Thunder Slinger or Ranger Stick Gun it doesn't really need them to be honest.
Articulation, sculpt, and QC are otherwise unchanged from the other Zyurangers release so far. It would appear that the color staining issue which the original Tyranno Ranger release suffered from is not present here though. Though it could still occur over time, for now you don't need to worry about the Ranger Stick paint rubbing off on the hands.
There's not much more that can be said. The original release of this figure was superb. Including everything you could possibly need to recreate the character in your collection. And this release is no different. Armed Tyranno Ranger takes the best aspects of the individual Tyranno & Dragon releases and meshes them into a single badass package. The US and JP releases of this figure are also 100% identical, so in the end the choice is more of a cosmetic one for packaging. Either release is just as good as the other.

Man, that bike just gets me. Need to gets me one, or the whole set. Again, y'all make those bikes work.

He comes with the Dragon Dagger?
I lost my Dragon Dagger in the move, and I don't really wanna buy a Green Ranger again, but a purchase of Dragon Shield Red seems a good excuse to buy him in the first place and will also complete my Green Ranger again.

Never thought I'd have a beautiful representation of my favorite SS/PR Ranger ever. He's my pride and joy of my entire SS/PR collection.

He seems cool, and my OCD self wont feel ZyuMMPR team is complete until I get him, but unless I find him for under $30, I wont get him really.
Awesome gallery Den-O!

He's totally worth $30-50. Or at least I think he is. Anytime I can get a new Sentai figuarts I'll buy it though
This one in particular is very nice though.

I really need to pick him up.
