Ever wondered what it’ll be like to live in a world where giant monster attacks are frequent? Well now you can thanks to a new Toku themed survival video game coming out of the woodwork with City Shrouded in Darkness having been recently been announced.
City Shrouded in Darkness puts players in the role of a civilian trying to survive a Kaiju battle that erupted in the middle of a city. Various franchises will be featured in this unique game, with Ultraman already being confirmed and Godzilla currently rumoured(though unconfirmed at the time of this writing) via the Gormaru Island Facebook page, the same face book page also posted a teaser which can be viewed by making the jump here.
No release date or plans for localization for the game’s been announced just quite yet, though it’s been confirmed for PS Vita and PS4 consoles exclusively.
Looks like a new Ultraman game is coming out for the PS4 and Vita. It seems like it will be a survival game.
If you recall the chaos of every giant monster film out there, giants are shown tearing down cities while humanity flees like ants. Well in this game, you're the ant trying to survive the giants!
"City Shrouded In Darkness" is a survival game that puts the player not in the shoes of human protagonists who are trying to survive an out of control disaster that is laying waste to the city.
The disaster being colossal unknown creatures and entities destroying the city!!
In game, while your focus is to survive the chaos around you. You also have to survive the monstrosities attacking, and survive the fallout of kaiju-brawls that will erupt within the city.
ULTRAMAN is one of the confirmed franchises appearing within the game. With the next creature to be announced having a "Godzilla-silhouette", so TOHO's Godzilla might be joining the game as well! (Might being the keyword!)
This game is exclusive only to the PS4 and PS Vita and is being published from Bandai Namco.

I wonder if this would have any chance of getting released over here, even if it is as just a digital only release? The concept sounds very interesting.
So a game that tells you to basically survive any given episode of Ultraman or Godzilla movie?

This actually looks really awesome. Almost like a survival horror type game. Too bad there's probably no chance of a western release. I guess I could always import, but I feel like this is the kind of game I'd want to understand lol.

I've been contemplating a PS4 lately. If this were to get localized (and is good,) it might be just enough to push me into buy territory.
