It appears that the design for the 2014 Godzilla from the Legendary Pictures film has been revealed! The image in question was taken from a licensing expo apparently in Sao Paulo Brazil. And lending credibility to the image, Legendary Pictures requested the Kaiju Cast twitter, among a slew of other websites, to remove said image. Whether or not this is the actual design may have been up for debate, but rarely are images asked to be removed when they aren’t real.
Being that Legendary’s legal team has been combing the internet requesting the removal of this image from various sites we can’t actually post it. However follow THIS LINK to godzilla-movies.com and check the image out before it’s taken down there too!

Wasn't this already revealed? I remembered it was Godzilla, but he has a potbelly now. Or am I misremembering o_o

The actual final design was never revealed at SDCC as promised. Legendary is being VERY tight lipped about this whole thing. Maybe trying to avoid fan scorn for as long as possible? I like the design seen here though. He looks just a tad bit dopey in the face but overall evokes a very good mixture of classic and more modernized designs.

His face makes him look kind?
I don't know, it's not a frightening or imposing face. It's like he was just about to sneeze.
But overall I like the design, a very classic look for him.

I think it's perfect. It hits all the right Godzilla notes while fitting the circumstances of this iteration: the uneven teeth and spines and general look of the skin looks like an actual mutant; the gills make sense for a sea monster like Godzilla and also allude to his mutated origins, plus some have speculated they may link to his atomic breath; the proportions of the face and eyes have no predisposed "expression", like a real animal it's a neutral face with the ability to emote and change to arrying degrees. Del Toro had a similar idea with the Kaiju in Pacific Rim that he didn't want them to have permanent "angry faces." He compared it to a lion, how when still the face is calm, almost majestic, but when it's attacking you it's horrifying. Looks like they're following his example with Godzilla. No fakey perma-scowl like the rubber suits here.
Plus the overall dsign is, like the ultimate Godzilla. The pitch black skin is straight from the original, the general shape is of the Heisei era, the skin texture looks like Millenium, and honestly? The nose and teeth combined with the jaw detail as it connects to the head gives me 1998 vibes. It's like they intentionally made this design as a comparrison to that to show people how it's REALLY done.
