After what seems like an ages long wait we finally have our first look at the action in Legendary Pictures 2014 Godzilla movie! This footage was shown at the Legendary panel during SDCC 2013. Watch this video NOW, it’s been taken down left and right all over by Legendary’s legal team. It’s truly a monstrous sight to behold.

Liked the look of the movie for the most part. However I was irked by the trailer using the same Ligeti music as 2001: A Space Odyssey's monolith scenes. It's a bit cheap to outright lift that idea, and pretentious to boot. At least for a Godzilla movie.

1. This was a teaser released for a small audience never intended for wide release. It is likely VERY rough and not indicative of the final product overall. Not a lot of time was put into it given how it's not a proper trailer and was done, again, for a small viewing. Literally it's only purpose is to tell us that the movie exists. You want better, wait until November. That's when the real trailer hits.
2. Pretentious is a pretty big, ill-fitting word. It's trying, and succeeding, to be dramatic and take Godzilla back to it's roots as an alegory for the atomic bomb and mankind's willfull abandon of mother nature in it's own desires for progress. Hardly pretentious, hardly worth being "irked" over in my opinion. It really helped the mood.
