S.H. MonsterArts Mothra and Battra Larvae Official Images

Posted on January 23, 2014 at 4:23 am by ZeoRangerV under Godzilla

Just after we revealed their release via a magazine scan, Bandai’s Tamashii Webstore has updated with official images of the forthcoming S.H. MonsterArts Mothra and Battra larvae forms! This special 2-pack is of the monsters as they first appeared in the 1992 film Godzilla vs. Mothra, and retains the impressive size difference between the two. The set also comes with a special silk effect part for Mothra, and the text also mentions a stand (although this is not pictured).

The set is a Tamashii Web Exclusive due for release in June, and can be yours for the price of 10,800 yen. However as is the case with most MonsterArts figures, this is likely to be released in the West via Bluefin Tamashii Nations. We’ll bring you updates on that as they come!

Haha, nice! Great timing, I just recorded an episode for my podcast talking about Godzilla vs Mothra '92! Too cool!

I think the Battra Larva could be a Pokemon. Hell so could the Mothra Larva

    Translation time:

From the hit, Godzilla vs. Mothra (1992), comes Battra (Larva) and Mothra (Larva) in a set. For Mothra, each section is fully articulated to replicate the mobility functions of a real larva. It comes with a translucent "Thread Shot" effect. Battra also features fully articulated segments and is massive.

    What the package comes with:

    -Mothra (Larva) body
    -Mothra (Larva) thread shot effect
    -Mothra (Larva) Pedestal
    -Battra (Larva) Body

    Scale:

Mothra (Larva) is 6.6 inches in Length (170mm)
Battra (Larva) is 9.8 inches in length (250mm) and 7.1 inches in height (180mm)

So Battra is as long as Biollante's potential height.

I like that they maintained the big size difference in the two larvae. Battra is much larger than Mothra in the film at this stage.

Of course, a purist would need two Mothra larvae, to reinact the endings of G'64 and Tokyo SOS...

A purist wouldn't use a Heisei larva to represent the Showa larvae twins. Not sure on the Tokyo SOS twins.

You've got those backwards. Battra is approximately 9.8 inches tall, making it one of the tallest MonsterArts of the line. In comparison, Biollante's usual hunched pose is 7.5 inches, while Destoroyah and Ghidorah are about 9.8 to the tips of their heads. At least, according to the official page, "全高約250mm".

In either case, that's a lot of caterpillar.

Wow, that is big. That's going to be pretty decent then, pricewise, given how big it is and it still coming with a Mothra larvae (and effect part for it) as well.

True, but a little paint, and you'd be close enough for gummint work.

As far as the height of Battra, it might seem unusual, but having just watched the movie I can say that when Godzilla and Battra tangle on the ocean floor, they are about the same height. I am not sure if they are supposed to be on the same level or not, but the common image of the two shows them to be the same height.

    That's one big bug.
