In celebration of the Power Rangers and their anniversary season, our very own conundrum is taking you back in time so you can Shift in to Turbo with a look at an older figure – the 8 inch Quick Draw Phantom Ranger figure! For those of you who remember Power Rangers Turbo, the Phantom Ranger was an ally to the Power Rangers. He would appear in both Power Rangers Turbo and Power Rangers In Space, but his true identity was never revealed (but the speculation runs rampant to this day). If you’re more a fan of the Sentai side of things, then you recognize the figure as the VRV Master from Gekisou Sentai Carranger, an ally but not an official 6th Ranger to the team. Unfortunately, due to his lack of an appearance in Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger, the probability that he appears in Power Rangers Super Megaforce is slim, as his costume was never seen on set.
So we’ll celebrate him right here! Take a trip down memory lane and click the discussion link at the bottom, or simply click here to see the full gallery!

Shift into Turbo!
Whether you love or loathe Power Rangers Turbo, there's no denying that one of the best parts of the series was the Phantom Ranger, ally to the Rangers and the 'unofficial' 6th Ranger.
The Phantom Ranger first appeared in Episode 23: The Phantom Phenomenon and had several more appearances in Power Rangers Turbo and then appeared in three episodes of Power Rangers in Space. The Phantom Ranger is unique in that he is the only Ranger without a confirmed identity.
Footage of the Phantom Ranger was taken of VRV Master from Gekisou Sentai Carranger. In Carranger, VRV Master is considered just an ally and not an official 6th Ranger. It's because of this that the Phantom Ranger's suit will most likely not appear in Power Rangers Super Megaforce as a power of the Silver Ranger.
Moving on to the subject of today's gallery, this figure of the Phantom Rangers stands at approximately 8 inches tall and has 23 points of articulation. The figure has a 'repeating quick draw action' and because of this, the right arm is not as articulated/poseable as the left. The right hand does still rotate at the wrist and does have semi-articulated fingers.
The Phantom Ranger comes with two weapons, a Turbo Blaster and the Turbo Navigator in gun mode. Interestingly enough it lacks the Phantom's signature weapon, the Phantom Laser.
Despite being adapted from a rather minimalistic suit design, the figure has a nice amount of sculpted and painted detail. Notable accents include the small, silver buckles on the calves and the intricate detail on the chest.
Overall, this is a very nice figure and possibly the best representation of the Phantom Ranger or VRV Master that you can find. The gimmick is unobtrusive enough that the figure still looks really good and can strike a variety of poses.

Just in time for the morphin madness
Awesome gallery, and I agree with Split, what happened?

Now I'm honestly sad I missed this..

Now go vote for Phantom in Morphin' Madness people!
Seriously though, the Phantom Ranger toys BOA produced for the Western market are really the only great representations of that suit you can find. VRV Master from Carranger isn't nearly as huge a character as they made him for the US in Turbo. So he actually doesn't really have any toys to speak of over there. These types of figures are some of the only representations of him we'll likely ever have.

Speaking of Morphin Madness, did anyone notice that Titanium Ranger is losing to Mystic Force Wolf Warrior right now?
Young Optimus14 says
Cool. If I remember correctly I think they either rereleased this figure or made another phantom ranger toy in 1998 or 1999. I could be wrong since I'm going off of my memory of the back of another toys box
ComicGuy89 says
That's actually pretty nice for an old toy. I didn't know BoA could do something so cool back then.
