It’s Morphin Time!
Checking one more off the list for MMPR/Zyuranger releases today we’ve got the S.H. Figuarts MMPR Yellow Ranger (female body) gallery! This figure was recently released exclusively by Bluefin to western markets. Likewise in Japan S.H. Figuarts Tiger Ranger was recently released as an exclusive. Catering to two different markets these differing releases of this figure have some unique traits. Here in the US the footage of Tiger Ranger, or rather the original Yellow Ranger, lined up with a female character. And as such a new female version of the figure was created for release in this market!
Created for and by the demand of the US market, S.H. Figuarts Yellow Ranger is the first truly unique release we’ve gotten since the Zyuranger/MMPR series of releases got under way! As the final piece to complete your team of original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers you will not be disappointed. Whether you think of Yellow Ranger as Trini or Aisha it will finish off a team of rangers a couple years in the making, and the accessories included with her will FINALLY complete the incredible Power Cannon! Maybe some of you will even feel the need to double dip ad get the male and female figure like I did? You totally should.

And if you’d like to see how Yellow stacks up to the original release of this figure, check out our S.H. Figuarts Tiger Ranger Gallery as well! And rounding out the Zyu/MMPR love we have one final gallery for you coming up this week. The long awaited exclusive SDCC Armored Black Ranger!!

Sabretooth Tiger!
Continuing the recent trend of Zyuranger/Mighty Morhin power Rangers releases we present to you S.H. Figuarts Mighty Morphin' Yellow Ranger (female body)! Wether she takes to the shelf as your Trini or Aisha, this figure will complete a team for you!
This figures Japanese counterpart, S.H. Figuarts Tiger Ranger was recently released as Tamashii Web Exclusive in Japan. But American markets got this newly sculpted, female bodied, Yellow Ranger to go with MMPR S.H. Figuarts. The Tiger Ranger figure it should be noted is what the in show suit actually looked like for at least the first season of Power Rangers. As more original US footage was needed for later seasons however a more feminine version of the costume became prominent going forward. This figure appropriately represents that version of the Yellow Ranger suit.
But for now, review time!

Packaging
Unlike their Japanese counterparts, the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers S.H. Figuarts have all been released in nearly identical boxes save for some color changes and differing official photos. Not much to say on that topic. If you've bought the 6 previous releases then you know what you're getting here.
Main Figure
S.H. Figuarts Yellow Ranger is a bit of a twist on the classic Zyuranger/MMPR base. Once again it's a new female bodied version of the character. So it's gonna be about a head shorter than your Tiger Ranger SHF. The body appears to reuse at least some parts from S.H. Figuarts Ptera Ranger/MMPR Pink. Though clearly sans the skirt. The head however is literally the EXACT same head from Tiger Ranger. To me it looks a bit too large on the smaller proportioned Yellow Ranger body.
Physical differences aside there's still the awesome quality we've come to know and love from this line of figures. Yellow ranger is made just as excellently as any other previous releases in the line. Nice tight joints, on the mark paint apps, and great sculpting.
Accessories
As with Tiger Ranger, the accessories are where it's at for Yellow Ranger! Not only does she include her own trademark accessories, but also one that completes something else nearly a year in the making! Included with Yellow Ranger are:
So as you can see Yellow Ranger is loaded with the perfect accessories to finally complete your Power Rangers collection! The finished Power Cannon is absolutely gorgeous. While it can be tough to get all 5 figures posed properly with the cannon, the pay off is worth it. Recreating that iconic image is completely worth the trouble, and it was more than worth the wait. And the nice thing about having a second set of the weapons that only combines into the Cannon, is that you still also have the first set for each figure to hold onto. So being able to display the standard weapons and Howling Cannon simultaneously is a huge bonus to me.
Final Thoughts
For fans wishing to finally complete a set of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers in figure form as they remember it, S.H. Figuarts Yellow Ranger may finally do the trick. The Tiger Ranger/Yellow ranger snafu enraged a good portion of the fandom when this figure was first announced. While I was a detractor of it as well, I fully recognize there are plenty of people who will always see even the Yellow ranger footage from season 1, as a woman despite the footage being that of a man. This figure primarily fulfills the role of working for Seasons 2 & 3 versions of MMPR Yellow
And at the end of the day the decision to have either the male or female version of the toy comes down to which series you prefer or how you remember the character best. Zyuranger or MMPR. This one is 100% Power Ranger all the way though. It was made and marketed specifically because of and for that fan base. Buying a figure like this shows Bluefin/Tamashii Nations that this market could potentially support something like this again in the future. Hopefully something a bit more unique and extensive than a repaint. I own both the male Tiger Ranger & female Yellow Ranger actually. Despite being a die hard sentai fan, it's hard for me to say no to a nicely done figure. And indeed Yellow ranger is very nicely done.
If you'd like to take a look back at my S.H. Figuarts Tiger Ranger Gallery as well feel free! Make the decision ofr yourself which version of this figure you'd prefer. And coming up later this week is one FINAL gallery to rounf out our coverage of Zyuranger/MMPR Figuarts. The Exclusive SDCC Armored Black Ranger!

while i like the look of the male yellow ranger better.. i will just never be able to see yellow ranger as a male, so, i had to get the female version. i mean, it was a she when i watched the show as a kid. but they both look great.

I don't know, the female body just looks odd without a skirt. If I had more confidence in my painting skills and a complete lack of rationality I'd pick up an extra pink to repaint the skirt.

This was a cool release and shows if we yell at Bandai enough about a certain subject, we will get it.
