Toku Toy Box returns today with another gallery from the modern day and today’s subject is S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Kiva-La! Who also happens to be one of the prizes in our Rider Prize Pack!
The heroic W & Decade Movie Wars exclusive rider Kiva-La is incredibly unique and rarely seen in Kamen Rider media. Appearing in that film alone Kiva-LA single handedly killed and would later team up with Kamen Rider Decade as well riders Diend & Kuuga to fight the final battle of the film. As unique as her background, S.H. Figuarts Kiva-La is a brand new gorgeous mold that will be sure to impress collectors. Though she has some minor drawbacks it’s always refreshing to see a new female rider join the line!

I, will stop you Tsukasa!
At long last after 5 years of waiting, the Kamen Rider W X Decade Movie Wars exclusive rider S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Kiva-La has been released! And today she joins us as a featured gallery!
Kiva-La is of course the Kamen Rider Decade series' female supporting character Natsumi who finally made her debut as a dynamic and powerful rider. Though the Movie Wars film showcases the only use of her powers Kiva-La was a force to be reckoned with. Strong enough to kill Decade and fight the final battles against the likes of the Crisis Fortress, Neo Life Form, Doras and more! Kiva-La has earned her place in rider history and hopefully a spot in your collection. Read on!
Packaging
Not much new to report right now for boxes. This one has the same semi-standard type of box that Kamen Rider Drive releases have featured for the last year. Just a normal slim style box decked out with Kiva-La images.
Main Figure
An odd one for sure, Kiva-La is a rider who only appeared in a team-up movie between Kamen Riders W & Decade, but is based in Kamen Rider Kiva's World. So she has a pretty unique place in rider lore. In much the same way her figuart is also quite unique.
Kiva-La as I said is unique and a bit of a refresher. I should start by saying she's drop dead gorgeous. I always loved this design and it kind of nags at me each time Decade reappears in some team up but Kiva-La doesn't. The gorgeous pearl white they've gone with for her base shines beautifully under the right lighting. But the paint in general is top notch. This figure has a ton of paint applications that really just pop. The nice rich purples used offset that white fantastically. Though her belt is rather sloppily painted it's such a small scale piece I can understand. The details on the tiny Kiva-La bat really are quite decent at this scale.
Now as good as Kiva-La does look, and it's VERY good, she functions rather poorly. First up her feet are almost vestigial. Because of their very narrow/short design they don't make a ton of surface contact with whatever she stands on. Being a rather lite weight figure with a high center of gravity on top of this means you'll run into trouble balancing her. Or at least I did. Surprisingly despite the various protrusions around the waist and torso the upper body moves just great. But the arms themselves are limited a bit by cumbersome shoulder pads that like to pop off their ball joints continually. The headsculpt however is beautiful. Just excellent. They really really nailed this one right down to those deep blood red compound eyes.
We don't see female riders terribly often but they seem to improve with each release as far as physical proportions and articulation are concerned. Kiva-La is no different for the most part, though I have heard QC horror stories about her breaking rather easily. The only real issue I have to report is the black paint stripes that run down her thighs will flake rather easily when they impact the hips/waist. But as far as the figures design is concerned it's mostly top notch with some minor issues that can be easily rectified by a tamashii stage. In any case she looks fantastic with her series co-stars Decade, Diend, & Kuuga and even look great with other Kiva figuarts!
Accessories
Unsurprisingly Kamen Rider Kiva-La is a bit lite on accessories:
6 - additional hands. Mostly for posing, some nice open palm sculpts we don't see too much. Since this is a female rider it forces bandai to change up the sculpt a bit more than the generic hands we've seen the last couple years.
1 - Kiva-La Saber. A gorgeous to scale version of the real deal. It's a really interesting looking sculpt, it almost suggests it could belong to a kaijin rather than a hero. But it looks great and fits just a bout perfectly in her hands. Just a little bit loosely.
That's not much for Kiva-La to come with but it's not as though she could have come with much else either. Aside from maybe a Decadriver with a hole through the middle of it Or perhaps the pair of energy wings used for her Sonic Stab would have been nice.
Final Thoughts
Ultimately S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Kiva-La will fit in with most any figuarts display you choose. As only the 5th Kamen Rider Kiva related figuart ever released, and one released many years apart from the other 4, she actually fits in rather well with them. Now of course those characters are actually from that world, where Kiva-La is really from Decades' mess of continuity. But she looks right at home with figuarts like Kiva Emperor or Rising Ixa. All in all this isn't too shabby of a release. Some minor gripes aside Kiva-La looks great and is totally worth having in your collection.

Dark Kiva comes with a Jacoder? Did not know that, makes sense though, kinda.
Damn Kiva-la looks BEAUTIFUL.

Everytime I see this figure it's a nice little reminder that I need to finish decade. XD

Very job on the photos as always. Kiva-La is a very nice looking figure and I do plan on getting her for Christmas. It would have been cool if you had a photo of Nadeshiko and Marika with Kiva-La and the other two female riders.
Den-O says
He does! So you can either display him as Otoya or as Taiga. I prefer Taiga personally. But that's only because there's no Saga figuart.
Damn Kiva-la looks BEAUTIFUL.

Now this is a figure I need to own, and I don't say that about a lot of figures. I always loved the Kivala design and she's probably my favorite Female Rider in terms of design. It's just such a damn shame that she's only ever had one proper appearance.

Although I find the whole metal bra and ultimate cleavage look a bit over the top, I really like Kiva-la's design. Everything really seems to work, though some of it appears to understandably cause some trouble for the figure. But yeah, she's cool. I love her colors.
Decade says
And still, no sign of the SHF Saga from many years ago...
Regardless, she is beautiful.

Kiva-La!!! *swoons at the sight of the one of the most magnificent female Rider designs* I've always loved her design. I think it's looks so smooth.

Den-O is right about how beautiful this sculpt and how it should had included a Decadriver with a hole in the middle of it so we can always recreate the scene where Decade got stabbed in the gut.
To whomever wins this congratulations in advance!
