“Fire All Engines!”
After a very very long wait, we’ve finally gotten a chance to take a look at Kamen Rider Drive’s final form with S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Drive Type Tridoron! The ultimate fusion of man & machine, this release is actually the deluxe Tire Blending Set as well. So not only do we get an excellent new figure, but several new Blended Tires too! Drive Type Tridoron is one of my favorite final forms in recent memory, and one that I feel brings entire design and aesthetic full circle. Does the figure do the same?
Drive Type Tridoron has been a long time coming. The TV series and various specials for Drive contained numerous riders and forms and slowly most of them have somehow made it out to market, so it’s no surprise that Drive’s final form has as well. A big, bulky, and powerful looking new form, Type Tridoron takes much of what works from this line of figuarts and admittedly a few faults as well. But it can’t be denied what an impressive presence it is in a Drive collection. Especially when armed with the mighty Trailer Cannon, or one of 3 fantastic Blended Tires included with this deluxe release. Each brings a unique flare to Drive’s look and a special weapon as well.
We’ve put together a huge 100+ image gallery of this figure after the jump. Just click “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums” at the bottom of this post to see the full gallery & review. Obviously there are still several more Drive related figuarts in the pipeline, but this is an incredibly solid release for a riders’ final form. S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Drive Type Tridoron is another excellent addition to any collection.
“Nice Drive!”

"Fire All Engines!"
It's been a long time coming but we're proud to finally present a gallery of Kamen Rider Drive's final form with S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Drive Type Tridoron (Tire Blending Set)! Unlike many Heisei riders, Drive has yet to gain a new form that appears in a film after the end of his series, that also seems to exceed the power of his original final form. Den-O went from Liner to Super Climax, Fourze went from Cosmic to either of the two Fusion States, Wizard went from Infinity to Infinity All Dragon, etc. Plenty of riders have gotten yet another form that seems to exceed the power of their series' final form. Drive has only received one additional form of his own since the end of the TV series proper, and that was Kamen Rider Zero Drive, which is actually a precursor to even the most basic Drive form, Proto-Drive. So it's refreshing to see that the hulking power-house of Type Tridoron has yet to be outclassed!
Let's dive into the figure below!
**This gallery contains over 100 images! So it's split across 3 posts. Feel free to peruse them at your leisure.
Packaging
Type Tridoron continues the steadfast tradition of Drive packaging we've come to know and love over the last 2+ years. Those slick black boxes with a subtle racing theme and killer stock photos. Tridoron's box is a bit thicker in this case because it's specifically the Tire Blending (Tire Kakimazerl) release. So it includes several blended tires for accessories, making the trays a bit thicker.
Main Figure
It's pretty satisfying to finally have this bad boy in hand. Drive has shaped up to have one of my favorite toylines to date so I'm especially pleased we've finally made it to his final form. Drive Type Tridoron finally rounds out the slew of TV series forms for our heroes. We're left now with only a handful of releases to wait for. But as as is I'm pretty pleased with what we've gotten in Tridoron.
Despite what appear to be cumbersome thick feet, the tire ankles actually serve their purpose very well. They balance this figure magnificently, and they still rock side to side a decent amount. Though wide angle stances aren't going to work as well as you'd probably like, the feet won't quite lay flat. The legs are the standard we've seen from this line so far, but the knee pads irk me to no end since they constantly pop off. The Drive Driver & Shift Car holster are identical to previous uses of those molds. The only difference with the driver is the new Type Tridoron read out. It still works just like any other release of the driver in that the face can be replaced.
Sadly the arms disappoint me. They're asymmetrical both in design and functionality. They look great, but the left arm can only just manage a 90 degree angle. The second bend in the arm is neutered by the shift tire peg style molding on the forearm. The right arm fares a bit better, but not by much. The arms just aren't super dynamic. Luckily the shoulders are great, even though the Tire has been placed much further over for this outing the left arm doesn't suffer from that. The right is also free of obstruction thanks to the hinge that the fender/bumper part is on. The new chest detailing to replicate Tridoron's front bumper looks fantastic, It's a nice scale representation of what the Tridoron itself looks like.
And of course there's that magnificent head. I know a lot of people didn't care for the elongated design itself, but I absolutely adore it. And those gorgeous compound eyes as well. But I think the one bit of detailing I might love most about this figure is the back side of it. It's designed to resemble the undercarriage of the Tridoron itself and it looks incredible. Right down to the small license plate type application on the back of Drive's head.
All in all this is a fantastic mold. And I'm glad to see it's getting some mild reuse with the Heart Type Miracle release. I'd love to see another repaint of this mold out down the line but they'll need to make up a new V-cinema form for me to get something that awesome. Drive Type Tridoron is yet another fantastic figure in this great line.
Accessories
Since this is the more deluxe styled Tire Blending set, Type Tridoron comes with a number of accessories. Everything you could have hoped for:
5 - sets of additional hands. Each set has one red right hand and one black left hand. I love that the asymmetry of this suit carries all the way down to such a minute detail like the hands. You get basically everything you need with this kind of selection as well.
1 - Alternate Krim Head. This extra head represents Krim's control of this form, which was only really demonstrated in show a few times. Primarily we saw it in Drive's final clash with the Freeze Roidmude. The only difference with this head is the bright red compound eyes. It's an extra accessory that totally didn't have to be includde but that I'm very grateful to have as an option.
1 - Trailer Cannon. A straight repack of the accessory included with Type Formula."] It operates exactly the same as before and can accept Shift Cars.
1 - Shift Speed. An extra of this shift car to be used with the included Trailer Cannon, it can be slotted into the cannon just as you could with Type Formula.
1 - Shift Tridoron. An extra of this shift car to be used with the included Trailer Cannon, it can be slotted into the cannon just as you could with Type Formula.
1 - Attack 1 2 3 Tire. A blend of the Midnight Shadow, Max Flare, & Funky Spike Tires. As with any tire that's compatible with Type Tridoron, you just need to split it apart to attach it to his chest/shoulder.
1 - People Saver Tire. A blend of the Mad Doctor, Fire Braver & Justice Hunter Tires. As with any tire that's compatible with Type Tridoron, you just need to split it apart to attach it to his chest/shoulder.
1 - Construction Site (Kouji Genbar) Tire. A blend of the Rumble Dump, Spin Mixer, & Rolling Gravity Tires. As with any tire that's compatible with Type Tridoron, you just need to split it apart to attach it to his chest/shoulder.
1 - Justice Cage. A sort of metal looking gate tied to the Justice Hunter Tire's powers. This was a weapon primarily used by Drive Type Speed originally.
1 - Rumble Smasher. A drill tied to the Rumble Dump Tire's powers. This was a weapon primarily used by Drive Type Wild originally.
1 - 10 ton Weight. An accessory tied to the Rolling Gravity Tire's Powers. This was a weapon primarily used by Drive Type Technic originally.
Now if you aren't satisfied by THOSE accessories then there's no hope for you. This was a pricey release, the Tire Blending set came out to 8100 yen before middleman fees & shipping. But that's an excellent price to pay if you ask me. The additional accessories more than make up for it. This is a pretty damn comprehensive release. Nothing is missing that immediately comes to mind so I am very very pleased.
Final Thoughts
Type Tridoron is a release I've been pretty hyped up for for some time. Drive has really become one of my favorite rider shows since it ended, and I love that it keeps seeing more and more releases. With the recent reveal and possible upcoming release of Drive Type Special, this series stands to be one of the most complete recent rider lines ever. Considering just how many different riders and forms were present in the show and it's various films & specials, this is astounding. But back on topic, Type Tridoron really is a great final form. A form that I really loved that truly brought the entire design family of this franchise full circle. It may have it's faults, but at it's core S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Drive Type Tridoron is a fantastic release that any Drive fan should own.

I've never been a huge fan of Drive and never wanted to get deep into those Figuarts... and then they include accessories like these, and I'm torn. I LOVE optional parts, and this is a seriously deluxe release.
...but it's Type Tridoron, which just isn't as cool as the basic Drive suit...
Kingdom Oblivion says
Really like the tires.
Hope they could do more for some of the other forms but that is sadly very unlikely.
AkibaSilver says
Type Tridoron is everything a final form (imo) should be. Sleek, powerful-looking, and an evolution of the base Rider. And this figuart captures it perfectly.
GurrenPrime says
I like the design overall, just wish the helmet was a bit different.
