"SPD Emergency!"
After a long long wait, Bandai is finally tackling a series & team close to many fans' hearts with the SPD Legacy Power Rangers 5-Pack! For the reasonably affordable price of .50 cents, we get the entire(*) team! We're breaking down the review of this incredible 5-pack into 5 sections. 1 for each Ranger! Let's get things kicked off with a look at:
Packaging
Forgoing the drab black boxes the Legacy 6.5" line has become known for, Bandai instead opted to go for a classic blister card packaging that's surely a throwback to the early 00's when SPD was still airing. In an interesting choice they've also decided to rebrand the name of the team on the packaging. A smart move IMO. It's well known that after Saban Brands reacquired the franchise from Disney that they were no longer allowed to use the logos or names of the series which Disney produced. Super X Robot is basically close enough to SPD for it to work, and you know what, I think it's better actually. Possibly to dodge any possible legal battle with Disney over the likenesses, Bandai has also opted to release these figures under the Pseudonym Rong Guang Toys Factory. An even smarter move from a company that knows this product, and their customer base, exceedingly well. Good on 'em!
Figures
#3 - SPD Red Ranger
Of course the iconic Red Ranger is well represented here. Whether you're a Jackie-Fan, a Sky-Hard, or that 1 person who likes Bridge in these colors, this figure should fit your collecting needs. In fact, considering his suit is accurately recreated with the #3 on it, this is Bridge already! What luck! This dynamically poseable figure can perform such feats as, standing upright, moving his right shoulder and even moving, YES, his left shoulder as well! Bandai has spared no expense recreating the SPD Red Ranger suit right down to the Spider-Man webbing on his arms and boots. This company has a bright future with this new level of attention they seem to be paying to the Legacy 6.5" line. Of particular note are the excellent paint apps on the feet, hands, and torso. Just look at that high quality application. Best of all though is the almost Luchadore style way the mask is painted onto the helmet. What more could we ask for. I mean really?

#3 - SPD Green Ranger
If your tastes for SPD (bad as they may be) lean more toward the teams' original line up then here's a treat! The SPD Green Ranger, Bridge, is recreated here in all of his glory! There isnt anything new to say about the figure physically since it's an identical mold to SPD Red, so here's all of that stuff again! Literally. This dynamically poseable figure can perform such feats as, standing upright, moving his right shoulder and even moving, YES, his left shoulder as well! Bandai has spared no expense recreating the SPD Green Ranger suit right down to the Spider-Man webbing on his arms and boots. We all know that the Red & Green SPD Rangers have no differently molded parts whatsoever right? Right.
#3 - SPD Blue Ranger
Did We mention that practically this entire set is Bridge? Remember when he became the SPD Blue Ranger for about minute before he appeared in the 20th anniversary team-up as the Red Ranger? Apparently so does Bandai! So we've got an SPD Blue Ranger with the, appropriate, #3 as well! I mean just what more could we ask for? Identical paint apps, molded parts, and articulation out the nose!! This dynamically poseable figure can perform such feats as, standing upright, moving his right shoulder and even moving, YES, his left shoulder as well! #3 - SPD Black Ranger
That's right folks! For the first time ever, the SPD Black Ranger has received a premium action figure. (Please Note: the SPD Black Ranger has never appeared in any fiction at all, whatsoever. Not even in the source footage for SPD AKA Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger. So his inclusion in this set makes PERFECT sense). The SPD Black Ranger, or as we all true fans know him - Todd, is by the far the best figure in this set. Featuring the same glorious and full articulation as the other 4 members of the team, Todd also features the same swanky spider webbing molded into his suit. Beyond this though, because of his black base suit, most of the accent colors have been changed from white to silver paint! Did you hate seeing that pesky #3 on Todd's chest? Fear no more. With it now being painted silver with white trim, you can barely even tell it's there! The way it should be. The "SPD" Badge on his chest as well as his visor & mouth plate have been similarly improved over the other 4 Rangers.
The best thing about this set? Bandai cut out the middleman (woman?) on shelfwarming and never gave us the choice to buy Pink or Yellow in the first place! With the decision taken out of our hands we never have to worry again about being able to complete this team because we never will. What a genius move!
Accessories
None, and that's just how we like it! Bandai has of course learned over the course of the Legacy toyline that collector's aren't terribly interested in buying figures complete with all their weapons. That's why these figures are SO lavishly painted & sculpted. All of the extra money that would have gone towards producing Delta Morphers, Deltamax Strikers, Delta Blasters, the SPD Battlizer, and R.I.C.K., basically anything you wanted has instead been funneled straight into the paint apps! We've been spoiled here people.
Final Thoughts
Wow. I mean WOW. I had given up on the Legacy toyline quite some time ago personally. From it's wonky scale & paint apps, to over muscular & disproportionate designs, I just couldn't find anything to like. At all. But finally, Bandai has righted the ship. They've course corrected to the path that will surely lead them to a bright future of producing more and better Power Rangers toys for years to come. Right? In any case, the Legacy SPD Rangers 5-Pack is a real winner, and with that .50 cent price tag, it's pretty much a no-brainer to pick-up. I'd have possibly even paid double that price for these bad good boys.

Wow! Those look gorgeous; I almost mistook them for Figuarts.
The articulation is amazing too, holy shit.

I think it's great the quality of these toys are the same as the quality of the show itself!

Incredible gallery and some incredible figures. Dare I say the finest Bandai has ever produced? Hopefully I can get them on sale at some point. I just can't handle that premium price tag right now.

Well played, Den-O. Well played.

Guys. These are actually the early concept version. Not kidding, Power Rangers SPD was gonna be a trio of Red, Green, and Blue and then later SPD Black joining the team. And then Skye's dad was gonna join the last ep turning out to be faking his death for the whole show. He then gives his red morpher to Skye and Boom takes over SPD Blue and they bust up the bad guys and happy ending.
GOOD GOD THESE ARE HORRENDOUS...
*rolls on the floor laughing like a maniac*
THEY LOOK LIKE SOMEONE MELTED THEM IN A MICROWAVE
Cobra says
Hahahaha. Good one. Honestly tho I’d buy these if I saw em at a swap meet
