“You can see the future… But I can go beyond it.”
The Day of Ohma. The day when Zi-O would assume all his powers and rule the world, in one future. In another, Sougo Tokiwa gave up his Ziku Driver and another Kamen Rider, Geiz, would rise up to save the world. In a world where time has seemingly stopped, the True Savior was born. Now, as prophesied by White Woz, the Geiz of the present is headed towards a fateful battle with Zi-O. With the powers of the future in hand, Myokoin Geiz becomes Kamen Rider Geiz Revive!
Goretsu! Shippu! Continuing a recent trend from Tamashii Nations, the True Savior Set for Geiz Revive comes equipped with the parts necessary to recreate either of his powerful forms. By default we have Goretsu, the bulky power based form armed with the Zican Jaclaw in it’s saw form. A beast of a form with all the bulk to back up it’s blows. With some pretty easy parts swapping though you can assemble the stunning blue Shippu form. This speed based flight capable form is armed with a new form for the Jaclaw as well and it’s, a claw! Both forms have their merits but I’m happy to report that either is actually very well thought out and designed. Thankfully Tamashii is getting better and better at form swapping with S.H. Figuarts.

Packaging
Geiz Revive fits right in with the standardized version of the packaging the Zi-O line has given us up to this point. At least this go around we do get a bit more variety with the two forms being prominently displayed in stock images. Otherwise it's pretty much what we've come to expect of a mainline release.
Geiz Revive Goretsu
Rather than discuss the main figure and it's merits then the accessories, I'll discuss the two forms the figure can assume with the components included. Gorestu is Revive's initial strength & power based form, assumed when the Geiz Revive Ridewatch is used with the Ziku Driver in it's standard upturned position. This form boasts a far bulkier build than the alternative, with an imposing looking upper body. The entire suit is quite impressive though, taking the sleek base of Geiz original form and layering quite a lot of textured straps rivets etc.to it. While the body isn't quite the same as what we got from the Zi-O/Geiz mold or even Woz, it's still a pretty strong outing for this series.
Functionally you won't see a lot of differences between this mold and the first few from the line. The lower body works just the same. The legs provide a well rounded base of support. Wide flat feet, really solid toe bends, and great
ankles go a long way to allowing a figure to hit all the right balanced poses. Add to this basically wide open hip joints and double jointed knees and you've really got the full package. The additional armor of this design doesn't really ruin any of the functionality either which is always a plus. I was pleasantly surprised by just how free the hips feel.
On Geiz Revive's waist is the ever present Ziku Driver. Detailed & functional this piece is more interactive than a lot of SHF scale belts, though you're still just as likely to lose it's accessories. The Driver itself can rotate a full 360 degrees like the show prop. The read out is permanently set to the year 0000. Each side of the Driver can however accept a Ridewatch. The right side of the driver comes with the Geiz Ridewatch already attached. As with most all the SHF ride watches in the line, there isn't an accurately painted rider face. Each opts for a simple base paint job, though the details of proper watches are sculpted into them. The left side of the Driver features the Geiz Revive Ridewatch in it's Goretsu position. It can be removed to interact with any other Driver or weapon capable of accepting watches as well. An alternate version of the watch is included for the Shippu form.
The upper body is of course where the bulk of the interest of the design is present. The lower body is largely black & white while the upper body is decked out in tubing and rivets and bright orange parts. I particularly like the red hourglass adorning the abs and chest. Despite the bulk of the chest it's also a pleasant surprise that you fully rotate the upper body around the lower torso pretty free of obstruction. Each of Geiz' shoulders however are quite massive and hang fairly low down. And while they may impact the core of the body at times, I can't honestly say they're all that poorly designed. They slide down on ball joints as any well designed shoulder pad would, and can hinge out enough to be pretty functional. The rest of the arms are pretty standard thankfully, and each is armed with a pair of Ridewatches as other figures in the line have been, all blanks. Again these are sculpted quite well if nothing else.
This brings us to the head sculpt of Geiz Revive, an absolute stunner if I've ever seen one. The gorgeous yellow visor spells out the word Rider but has a far greater flourish to the design than his base faceplate with a more interesting set of protrusions than before. I would recommend using some caution when rotating the head though as the points below the chin line can easily impact the bulky neck armor if you aren't paying attention. Overall though I'm quite pleased with this form, despite it's bulk it's a pretty great and functional toy. Armed with the Zikan Jaclaw in it's Noko/Saw Mode, Geiz Revive Goretsu is a pretty awesome power house of a form.
Geiz Revive Shippu
Shippu is more or less the opposite of Goretsu, a flight capable form with the ability to go beyond time, beyond Zi-O II's visions of the future. Achieved when the Revive Ridewatch is turned and the beads fall into the lower chamber, creating a solid blue face, Shippu is more than a match for Zi-O II. This form is accessed in a similar fashion to how another recent form swappable rider release was handled, Kamen Rider Evol. In the same way, you need to remove a number of parts to get the swap started. The ridewatch, ab plate, chest plate, shoulder pads, two small pads on the back, and the visor all need to be removed and set aside.
The removal is actually really easy, and the alternate parts go on very smoothly. In place of the first Revive Ridewatch is the fully blue version. It would have been cool if you had replicated the spin of the show prop and the way the beads fall down, but I get how that may not have worked out at this scale. The ab section is a blue plate that plugs in snugly, while the new chest goes on above and over it. The new shoulder pads are far less bulky, being more of a standard size and free for movement. On the back where you removed those pads, we have similarly designed parts to plug in that come with small wings attached. While it would have been undoubtedly cool if they could have worked the actual transformation from form to form into this figure, I can see how unfeasible it would have been at this scale. The final additional part is the new faceplate. While the design is identical and the face still reads Rider, the hourglass stripe is now blue.
The newly assembled form is armed with a new form of the Zican Jaclaw as well, Tsume/Claw mode. Which is achieved by swapping out parts as well, removing the saw blade, rotating the claws forward, and place a small block in place to sort of lock the mechanism. The finished product is is even more stunning than Goretsu. Geiz Revive Shippu is a form that I very much love. The particular shade of blue used is really gorgeous and a wonderful contrast to the bright orange of Goretsu, while also complementing the brilliant yellow compound eyes very well. Functionally the lower body is totally unchanged, the upper body isn't largely different either, but it's far less bulky and more agile than Goretsu was. It's just an all around more visually pleasing form to me, even if functionally it isn't really all that different. I never felt like Geize really got that many truly great forms, but Revive Shippu really is his best to me.
Final Thoughts
While ultimately, Zi-O as a series didn't always work for me, it did occasionally have some stupendous moments. Geiz Revive's debut episode (for both forms) really was a big turning point in how I enjoyed the series. And Geiz made great use of the abilities of both forms. From a design point I have a preference for Shippu over Goretsu, but each form has it's merits and each design is quite solid. As far as Zi-O releases go I'd say up to this point, this one has been my favorite. Tamashii Nation's recent penchant for including form change parts with figures again has really been brilliant, and I hope they continue this trend into the near future.

Oh, I had thought Zi-O II would come first before you got to this one, but I'm not complaining because Geiz Revive is awesome. It is of course really nice that you can access both forms with one purchase, and I've grown to really like said forms (It helped that the story arc where it was introduced was my favourite part of all of Zi-O).
I am especially happy to see that Goretsu isn't quite as hindered as you'd think he would be on first glance. I mean he's far from agile, but he's probably more possable than Ohma Zi-O.

I’ve seen a review of the RKF Revive figure and quite frankly, when I remember how that pulled off the transformation gimmick (by actually moulding hinges to accomplish it instantly), this feels like a downgrade.
ShiShiLeo says
Yeah the transforming capability of the Rkf is what made me pick it up over the Figuarts (the price helped too!)
I painted mine to make it look more SHF

I'm almost glad I'm kinda "meh" on Zi-O, because this is honestly a fantastic release and I don't know that I'd have been able to resist otherwise. Value-adding is something Bandai hasn't been doing much of with standard-line Figuarts, so this is pretty impressive (at least by the standards of Zi-O with its bizarre paint omissions.)
As always, I utterly love the transformation shots in the gallery. So much fun!

El Salvatore here's a lot better than I'd expect, I figured they'd have gone for a gimmicky figure but this is really nice
MnemonicSyntax says
Completely disagree.
Figuarts are meant to look as accurate as possible to the show. RKF Revive, while a fun and cool figure, make it look like he's wearing a shirt in the Shippu form because the wings have to fold in on him.
Glad it's swappable and don't see it as a downgrade whatsoever.
Kurona says
It's a bit like Arms Change Gaim vs SHF Gaim. Naturally the Arms Change gimmick is very fun and very smoothly done, but it would be impossible to integrate that into a high-quality figure like SHF without adding some bulk and losing some accuracy. Both figures are great in their own way though and it's good to have options!

I really like the bulk of the revive forms as well as the jingle, but this figure release really knocked it out of the park on what figuart releases can do. Including form change parts was brilliant and something bandai also did for evolt to a greater extent. Hopefully saber or rider series following saber can continue this type of figure. I feel rkfs pulled a page from figuarts like these for ark 1/zero and calibur. Hopefully it continues in both lines.
