Did you forget something that happened this week? We may have as well, but Photo & Content contributor conundrum did not. This past Wednesday 05/07/14 marked the 15th anniversary of the final episode of Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog!
For a little history lesson, Mystic Knights was an American/Irish co-production created by Saban Entertainment based loosely on Irish myths and aimed at the same audience that watched such shows as Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers and Masked Rider. The show itself only lasted a single 50 episode season as it’s second season, to be titled “Battle Thunder”, had it’s budget allocated to Power Rangers Lost Galaxy. The show however is still special for many fans because of it’s unique take on the genre and the toyline itself is really pretty great and still affordable to collect even today.
If you need to take a trip down memory lane and relive this excellent series then by all means check out conundrum’s latest gallery by clickking “Discuss on the TokuNation Forums”. And be sure to check out his previous entries from this series as well:

Who knows, maybe one day this series could be released on DVD by Shout Factory the same way other classic Saban franchises have been? Time will tell.

Exactly 15 years ago today, the last episode of The Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog aired on Fox Kids.
Just in case you're unfamiliar with the series, here's the synopsis from Wikipedia:
Bandai of America handled the toy line for Mystic Knights and produced 5 inch figure of the four main Mystic Knights, Rohan, Ivar, Deidre, & Angus, the fifth, Garret, and the four Evil Lords of Temra.
The Knights have stood the test of time and are solid figures, each with intricate sculpt and paint details, a fair amount of articulation, and an impressive accessory account.

15 years years already? damn I feel old. I loved this show, so much so I began basing some of my DnD charecters on these guys

I remember owning a Rohan and Angus figure. Forgot what happened to 'em sadly...

Decent, but none of my players really caught the reference. I usually played an angus clone because noone id ever played with ever used a flail so I wanted to be different. I also had 4 npc half elementals with artifact weapons based on them I used for another campaign. wish I knew what happened to those charecter sheets. This was all under 3.5 rules, never played enough 4ed to try a conversion.

A couple of weeks ago, I was at work and someone had returned a Spider-Man Marvel Legends figure, but something was off. I took a closer look and it was Rohan. At the time I had no clue what it was, but now I know.

I have photos of the Season 2 unreleased toys. Concept art, prototypes, and actual season 2 story plans. I will post them sometime this week.
Basically all the knights return, new animal-themed bad guys, and some cool toys that we actually got but were used in other Bandai toy lines.
Overall gimmick of season two was knights whose armor transformed into their battle-ized forms, so no need to buy a regular rohan and then a battle fury rohan, instead, his armor converted from normal mode to powered-up mode. Really cool stuff that I wish they made.
Some toys made it to actual plastic molded samples with working gimmicks (the knights and a dragon), while others didn't even get past concept art stage (other dragons, animal-themed bad guys).
PLEX designed EVERYTHING.
Overall this stuff was awesome and I'm bummed we didn't get it. If they ever revive Mystic Knights, I hope they just continue with this stuff. Toys, story and all.
