All aboard!
Tokunation has pulled back into the station with Ressha Sentai ToQger. And we’re back with a new gallery of DX Diesel Ressha!
Diesel Ressha, or as Right/ToQ 1 would call him “Grandpa”, is pretty unique in this line. Instead of being the typical “2-car” Ressha like the previous ones Diesel comes in 5 pieces. So this guy is crazy big when compared to the other Resshas. His addition to the line allows you to take the already released Tank & Car Carrier Resshas and create Diesel Oh! This blocky awesome robo is a welcome shelf mate to go with your ToQ Oh. And if you’d prefer to display them combined, you can! As Cho ToQ Oh!

Diesel Ressha! Diesel Ressha!
Another piece of merchandise from Ressha Sentai ToQger has just pulled into the station! And this time it's Grandpa himself, DX Diesel Ressha! Diesel Ressha of course facilitates a few new combinations with his fellow Resshas, so we'll get to those in the later part of the review.
DX Disel Ressha on it's own is a big toy. Or rather it's a long toy. As you can see when packaged it comes in 5 separate pieces. The initial forward "engine" section is of course the actual Diesel Ressha. The one which is compatible with the ToQ Changer/Blaster/etc etc as a single car unit. The other 4 pieces form up to create the "second car" of this massive piece. At nearly twice the length of the full Red Ressha, it's a beast.
Much like the initial ToQ Oh resshas it can separate and combine using the same square plug/socket system. However where this one is unique, is that the joints used for it's transformation are accessible in Ressha mode. Meaning you don't have to detach anything and fold out hitches like on the other Resshas, in order to get to move more naturally like a train would. though the hitches are still present as well. The best part about these joints being able to be used in this way, is that they can collapse and extend out from the main body of Ressha allowing them to be more easily hidden when not in use.
An odd item of note is that at the verrrrry end of Diesel Ressha it has two colored sections at odds with the maroon of the main body. The tail end of the 4th "car" is orange and the 5th is half blue. Clearly meant to show how Diesel pairs up with Tank & Car Carrier Resshas for it's combined form. there are also some hidden panels on Diesel Oh's shoulders in robot mode that fold out and match this color scheme even better, really selling it. Now the odd part is that the small blue section of the 5th car has what's commonly referred to as a "hobo door". Referencing how people in older times would take a free rider on trains via these sliding doors. It's presence on the toy isn't explained, it's honestly a completely throwaway gimmick.
Now, when combined with Tank Ressha & Car Carrier Resshas we form Diesel Oh! Diesel Oh may look boxy at first but I suggest taking a closer look to appreciate this form. Fans of GoGo Sentai Boukenger will notice an inherent resemblance to the Daibouken in it's various forms thanks to the molding of the chest, head & face as well as the glorious chrome chest. There's also an absolute ton of detail present on this thing. The molded in details on the body are very very sharp and plentiful. Just look at the back side of it for further proof.
The afformentioned hidden panel gimmick really helps to sell the continuity of this piece. And the straight lines and boxy proportions really make this seem like a single robo with multiple colors on it, rather than 3 toys slapped together. It's a very fun toy that you need in hand to appreciate a little better.
Now on to the final stop, Cho ToQ Oh! this big bulky robot is the combined form of Diesel Oh & ToQ Oh of course. the proportions of this form of course don't quite match up with the suits in show appearance. But that's not necessarily possible either. In show the Tank & Car Carrier outer legs shrink a bit as do the halves of Diesel that make up the new shoulders. The upper halves of Diesel become make shift shoulder mounted cannons that add to the imposing image of the figure. The new head created for this form is simply awesome. The extra tracks that fold out from the sides of the head and create the new head crest rock.
DX Dieseal Ressha has made a pretty big splash. Bandai even decided to include a bonus with the first run releases of Diesel Ressha & the Diesel Oh boxed sets in the form of Rainbow Ressha! A so far toy exclusive Ressha which is a recast of the Gashapon Red Ressha. As such it isn't compatible with DX Resshas to form robo combinations. It can however be used with the ToQ Changer. When it is it should out the names of the 8 Resshas required to form Cho ToQ Oh and announces it's combination.
If you haven't picked up DX Diesel Ressha then please do so. It may appear underwhelming at first but it's actually pretty damn awesome. At the prices it retails for along with the bonus Rainbow Ressha included with the first releases it's totally worth it. Den-O approves

Awesome gallery, Den-O! Thanks! I was really surprised at how much I like Diesel Ressha. It's really a nice piece and far weightier than I expected. I may not be a huge fan of the robots in ToQger but the trains, as trains, are top notch!

Can we get a silly pic of just Diesel's Cab and Caboose?
That and DieselOh Scope and Shield. Because it'd be silly fun
